You should be able to find all the graphics drivers on the Unix distribution
disk. When you see the message that the drivers need to be installed
manually this probably refers to the fact that you need to install the
Open3D layered product kit manually. This should be found on the
layered products CD. All needed drivers should be installed along
with the kit.
If you are still encountering problems please give us a call back.
Additionally, I tried to give you a call back at 810-801-4800 x1232 and
I received a message that the number was invalid. Please check to make
sure I took it down correctly.
Thanks,
Gerrit Saylor

Subject: Installation Problems with Digital Unix 4.0B regarding
Hi, Gerrit Saylor:
I have loaded the OPEN3D software and still no luck with the installation. I
think the problem is with the graphics driver. I am providing you with some
details
of the system

I have checked for the drivers in the asociated products cd-rom's(Vol. 1&2) and
also the software suset cd-rom's(Vol 1-4). The message I am getting during
bootup is "MODULE PMAG-DA not in tc_option data table, can't configure it". Then
at the end of booting sequence completion " This system requires a driver for its
graphic card", "Specify the location of the driver or press<RETURN> to cancel",
after pressing return, Your system will run with the generic graphics driver,
press return to continue".
I would appreciate it If you can provide some guidelines or hints as to what to
do?. If I revert back to OSF v3.0, I have no problems. I couldn't figure out
where the graphics driver is located and how to extract it in the present
situation with DIGITAL UNIX 4.0B.
My Phone# is (810)901-4800 x1232.
thanks,

Subject:Installation Problems with Digital Unix 4.0B regarding
--------
Well, with the additional information you provided, I was able
to clear this up fairly quickly.
From the Open3D group here at Digital:
The PMAG-DA (aka PXG) is not supported by Digital UNIX V4.0 (and there
is no version of Open3D that would fix that). Retirement of the
support was announced long ago (two years ?).
Release Notes for Digital UNIX V3.2C (dated July 1995) page 8-4
announces the discontinuation of support for the card.
The other Turbochannel graphics cards are still supported in V4.0, so
any of them would work as a replacement: HX, TX, ZLX-E*, ZLX-L*, ZLX-M*.
If we can provide any more help, please contact us.
