He has a couple of questions:

  1) 'netstat' commmand - interface name sometimes has an asterisk appended
behind it (what does this indicate?)

  2) Wants to know if there is an API that allows him to find out details
about the RAIDset(s) slung off an HSZ40-xx controller.

3527.2HSZxx API issue resolved, I'll do the netstat one later...AMCUCS::SWIERKOWSKIQuot homines tot sententiaeFri Apr 25 1997 21:3816
Greetings!

I got back a response to a note I had posted in the HSZ40_PRODUCT conference,
did some research on both "HSZterm" and "SWCC" and sent Che a detailed message
with what he needs to know re: his question about an "API" under Digital UNIX
to talk to HSZxx's and await a reply from him. I'll research the netstat ques-
tion later and send him another message...

3527.3'netstat -i' is documented...AMCUCS::SWIERKOWSKIQuot homines tot sententiaeWed Apr 30 1997 16:3922
Greetings!

I just sent Che a detailed message re: his question about the display results
from the 'netstat' command. Specifically, I think he was asking about the
significance to the asterisk next to some (but not all) of the "interfaces"
listed when using the '-i' flag. In a nutshell, the asterisk denotes an
interface that is *not* up. I await feedback from Che and will close this
call when I hear back (I have already answered his "HSZ API" question per his
most recent mail he sent me, cheers...

P.S.	FWIW, this isn't documented in a V4.0 "Network Administration" manual
nor the man page for netstat on a V4.0A or V4.0B system. I did find
this documented in the "Network Programmer's Guide" however in section
E.2.2. I've suggested Che file a documentation SPR if he feels this
is a "bug" that should be fixed.
