| Jeff,
Visual C++ V5.0 has gone to manufacturing (what they call RTM) already, so
it should be available in the next couple of weeks (but I am unable to
confirm the date with Microsoft sales here in the US). We have been using
VC++ V5.0 here since the RC12 Beta, and have had the RTM kit for a few
weeks already, so I feel confident you should be able to get it shortly.
That of course is US information -- I am not aware of what delay (if any)
Microsoft may have for their products to be available through their UK
subsidiary. When localization is required, this can be some period of
time. I would not expect this to be the case for VC++ V5.0.
One last option is to request to get the Beta kit (maybe they would even
send your the RTM candidate? ie: really the final bits), by sending a
request to the following address:
[email protected]
Your subject should have:
"Visual C++ V5.0 RISC Edition, Alpha only Request"
You should include your company, etc info, what you would do with the Beta,
etc. Not the best, as I realize you want the real compiler. Thank you for
your feedback on working with MS in the UK. I will forward your comments
to the group which is responsible for the MS-Digital Alliance. I can tell
you that MS is investing in MANY more Alphas than they currently have on
their emplyees desks, so hopefully the UK folks knowledge in Alpha will
only continue to improve.

Jeff,
I have been out of the office for the last two weeks, but wanted to let you
know that the Alpha version of Visual C++ is reported to be available
from distributors as of May 5th, so you should be able to obtain the
released
version of V5.0 now.
