3492.2 | Email "ping" sent, awaiting feedback... | AMCUCS::SWIERKOWSKI | Quot homines tot sententiae | Mon Apr 21 1997 21:03 | 26 |
| Greetings!
The anonymous ftp access to oskits (now webkits) and guru no longer exists
and the "Webkit Home Page" doesn't refer to that *unsupported* CDE ADK patch
kit. I did find I could copy it via DECnet from guru however or access it at
the following URL:
- http://www.zk3.dec.com/useg/patches/
After telling Joe the patch kit no longer existed on Thursday, I pulled a
copy for myself off the internal web, compared sizes and dates with a reference
to it I had in some old mail, and pushed it out to his site on Friday. I
warned him strongly that he was on his own with this, but figured it might get
him out his jam since he can't upgrade to V4.0[any] and is stuck trying to use
the CDE ADK on a V3-2D-[?] system (which is unqualified/unsupported and broken).
I just sent him him "ping" asking about the status of this call and await
feedback...

3492.3 | Need details re: patches, await feedback... | AMCUCS::SWIERKOWSKI | Quot homines tot sententiae | Tue Apr 29 1997 12:56 | 24 |
| Greetings!
Joe did send back a response after I asked him if all the issues he had
raised in the initial call had been resolved or not. The only thing he'd
like to get is access to CSC's "private" patch area - I've explained that
he needs a service contract and that this is *not* included in his ASAP
membership. He asked about sending him "ClearCase" patches, but didn't specify
which ones or what problem he is trying to solve. A quick blast through
COMETS gets lots of hits on "ClearCase". I've asked him to supply me with
a specific patch kit or a more detailed description of the problem he is
trying to solve. I've also suggested that he use the CSC directly for this
sort of thing since I don't know if the patches on webkits jive with the
patches in the CSC's "private" patch pool, awaiting feedback...

3492.4 | Referred to CSC for patch kits, call closed... | AMCUCS::SWIERKOWSKI | Quot homines tot sententiae | Tue Apr 29 1997 20:46 | 28 |
| Greetings!
After a little more email tag with Joe, he did supply me with the patch
kits he was referred to by/for "ClearCase". A quick browse on Webkit Home
Page at: http://webkits.zk3.dec.com/ indicates that this is internal use only
and didn't point to any of the specific patch kits Joe requested anyway. I
pulled over a massive V3.2D-1 patch kit and one of the "readme" files led me
to believe the patch kits have been superceded and/or replaced.
I've researched similar requests before and per advice by Mark Schafer, I've
advised Joe to pursue this directly with the CSC. FWIW, DECnet and anonymous
ftp access to old patch collections on xirtlu, slugbt, oskits, flume, etc. have
been disabled/deleted - apparently all patch kits for Digital UNIX (internal
use only) are at http://www.zk3.dec.com/dupatchwww/ and all external customers
*must* go through the CSC to get patch kits. I'm going to guess that Joe won't
like the "solution", but I closing this call anyway...
