    Sorry for the delay in replying.  You stated that you have a problem
    with the v3.2 compiler and were looking for a patch.  I have not
    located a patch, but the latest version of the compiler is v4.0A.  If 
    you have purchased the Digital UNIX SDK, then you should have the 
    Digital UNIX Alpha Software Product Library which contains the 
    Microfocus Cobol compiler.  The latest set of CDroms (April 1997) 
    contains the v4.0A compiler.
    
    Also,  I searched for reports of other customers reporting the same 
    error that you get (unknown copy file specified).  One person was having
    trouble with accessing files from an NFS mounted disk.  The suggestions 
    were that he check the file protections and also check that NFS 
    locking is turned on (which is the default for Digital UNIX systems, 
    unless you specify that you don't want locking turned on when you set 
    up NFS).
    
    If this does not help you out, and you do not have access to the latest
    compiler, please send me a small test case so I can report the problem
    to the compiler group and get a solution for you.

    I apologize for not getting back to you sooner.  You asked about obtaining
    the MicroFocus Cobol v4.0 compiler.  There are a couple ways to obtain this.
    You could order just the compiler (call 1-800-digital), or you could order
    the Digital UNIX SDK through the ASAP program (please see our web pages

    to learn more about ordering this).  Among other things, the SDK will include
    a set of CD's that contain all of the compilers and tools currently available
    on Digital UNIX.

    Checked back with Richard today.  He has the v4.0 Cobol compiler on
    order, so is all set for now.
