Hu Rui,
What version of Digital UNIX are you using? I will check with the CDE group
about the error message that you are receiving.

Hu Rui,
According to the CDE manual "Common Desktop Environment: Advanced User's and
System Administrator's Guide", each time the application manager is
started, it creates a directory named
/var/dt/appconfig/appmanager/login-hostname-display
So if you are logging in as root on hostname lola on display 0, it will
create a directory named root-lola-0. It appears that CDE does not like
the hostname lola.fi. On my system, the directory names in the appmanager
directory do not include the fully qualified hostname, but just use the
alias. What shows up on your system when you issue the hostname
command? Is it "lola" or "lola.fi"? Do you have a "lola" alias set up in
the /etc/hosts file?
I will check with the CDE group to find out why CDE complains about the
directory name.

Subj: CDE application manager startup problem
Hu Rui,
You requested help for a problem with starting the CDE application
manager. You mentioned that the application manager was generating
an invalid folder name error after you set up the network on your
system. Attached are two suggestions from the CDE group on possible
ways to fix this problem. Please let me know if this helps you out.

Note 638.1 invalid folder name on starting appmanager
1 of 1
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1) Make sure that /etc/hosts contains the fully qualified node
name as it's primary entry (ie, lola.fi is the system name,
lola is an alias).
2) Doing an 'rm -rf' in /var/dt/appmanager will allow everything
to be recreated cleanly, that may help as well.

I solved the problem. It is the CDE confusing me. When I use the old Unix
command and edit the file it works.
It is very good to have CDE this graphic interface, but the error message
and help are not very informative. The old ways seems more clear and logic.
I think I must made a wrong choice some where, so I did not have a default
router. So I edited the file than it works.
I have made another installation everything is fine!
Thank you very much.
