    -----------------------------
Their application works on Intel but gets a runtime error
on Alpha before it even starts running. The error is coming
from the MFC startup code and kicks into Dr. Watson.

Got a reply:

I'm guessing that the initialization code is trying to read thread
local storage before it is allocated.

If that doesn't ring any bells with the partner, have the partner look
at his static constructors for any use of thread local storage
(which may be declared with __declspec(thread) or allocated using special
    runtime routines (TlsAlloc, TlsGetValue, ...)

Called the partner and relayed this information. Waiting on a callback.

Greetings!

John called the Hotline and it rolled over to the West Coast yesterday and
wanted to speak to Pat. I called and left a message for him advising him that
due the weather, MRO may or may not be fully staffed and operational yet. His
message indicated he would be out today anyway, so perhaps he can link up with
Pat tomorrow (barring the weather!) - Hope you folks are okay (makes me glad
to be where I'm at, cheers)...

Hi Pat,

We finally resolved our problems. We had to compile appmodule.cpp.
which is a module that comes with MFC. Any insight as to why we have to
compile and link this module explicitly?

Thanks again for your help,

John
