Fax and verbal data show he does not have a license on the machine (per ingrid). I called them on 3/20 and left voice mail asking them to call us back if they still have a problem with the license. Marvin

NOTE: PHONE NUMBER ABOVE IS WRONG correct number is (408) 542 1500 I talked to Rob on 3/24. He had received mail from John T. but still had problems He is trying to build a dual boot system (3.2 and 4.0) on 2 disks with one set of licenses. I told him to mount the 3.2 disk on the 4.0 system and then make a soft link with /var/adm/lmf on the 4.0 disk pointing to /var/adm/lmf on the 3.2 disk. Marvin

I am still having some difficlty, loading Digital Unix 4.0B on my system. Here is where I stand: I am trying to load Digital Unix 4.0B on another disk on my system (that is currently running 3.2 off one disk). I am loading the 4.0 disk from scratch (CD). I was able to tar off the lmf directory to floppy from the 3.2 O/S and restore it under the 4.0B O/S. The message I get when I go to run level 2 is: "Can't find an OSF-BASE, UNIX WORKSTATION or UNIX-SERVER license PAK" But, if I go into the lmf utility and do a list, it shows all of my license paks as being enabled, kernel cache empty. Any ideas? Thank you for your assistance. From: HYDRA::AXPDEVELOPER "[email protected]" To: US4RMC::"[email protected]" CC: AXPDEVELOPER Subj: license pak database Rob- Your problem is "The kernal cache is empty". This cache must be loaded from the license data base. You can do this manually with an lmf load command as described in the lmf man pages. This loading is supposed to be done automatically on a system boot. Perhaps you did not reboot after transfering the data base or there may be some other problem such as ownership of the database file or directory. my system(3.2c) shows ls -l lmf total 555 -r--r--r-- 1 bin bin 16078 Jul 24 1995 LURT -r--r--r-- 1 bin bin 539 Jul 24 1995 PRESTOSERVE-OA -rw------- 1 root system 234300 Dec 2 10:18 ldb -rw------- 1 root system 308590 Dec 2 10:18 ldb_history -r--r--r-- 1 bin bin 455 Jul 24 1995 osf -r--r--r-- 1 bin bin 479 Jul 24 1995 template and ls -l adm drwxr-xr-x 2 root system 8192 Dec 2 10:18 lmf Try a reboot and/or lmf load command Marvin Davis [email protected] |
