3355.0. "Trend Micro? (customer didn't say...)" by AMCUCS::SWIERKOWSKI (Quot homines tot sententiae) Wed Mar 19 1997 14:07

Company Name : Trend Micro? (I'm guessing - he didn't say)
Contact Name : David (last? - he didn't say)
    Phone : (408) 257-1500 x-342 (this extension error'ed out)
    Fax :
    Email : - unknown -

    Brief Description of Problem:
    -----------------------------

I think the customer meant AlphaStation 255 x/xxx, per the AlphaServer
InfoCenter, there is no AlphaServer 255. The AlphaStation InfoCenter does
list an AlphaStation 255/233 and an AlphaStation 255/300 however. They
ordered this system with Windows NT, but they want to set it up to dual-boot
Digital UNIX. I tried to call the extension he left - no joy. I then left
a message with the main number. I'll try tomorrow and hope this guy calls
back with a little more information, cheers...

    Tony,

Don't forget this model probably has a half-flash console.

3355.2Still trying to contact customer...AMCUCS::SWIERKOWSKIQuot homines tot sententiaeWed Mar 19 1997 19:2216
Greetings!

Thanks! I had already researched this in several places and have a couple of
"cookbooks" on how to do this I'll mail David if I ever contact him. To date,
no one has called me back in response to the voicemail I left at the main number
and the extension David supplied errors out. I'll try and call the main number
again tomorrow and see if I can get a human to help me track this guy down...

3355.3These folks need "phone etiquette 101"...AMCUCS::SWIERKOWSKIQuot homines tot sententiaeWed Mar 19 1997 20:5126
Greetings!

These guys just don't like identifying themselves - argh! I'm pretty sure
I got at least 2 more (possibly 3) calls from David or another guy who mumbled
his name and left no extension. I tried calling back using both the extension
I was given yesterday (it error'ed out) and another one David left today but
it transferred me to a "spell names" option. Since their voicemail system
allowed me to start recording, I assume there is only one "David" there. I
then called back the main number and left a general message with their auto-
mated "operator". They have both my direct phone, my email, the ASAP Hotline
and (I presume) the ASAP email. Hopefully one of my messages will get routed
to this "David" person tomorrow.

  I have most/all of the data I suspect he needs to dual-boot a "half-flash"
system, but I'm still playing telephone tag. If I don't get in contact with
someone by COB tomorrow, I'll escalate this to their business relationship
manager and let him/her figure out how to contact these folks...

3355.4Finally contacted, emails will be sent...AMCUCS::SWIERKOWSKIQuot homines tot sententiaeThu Mar 20 1997 17:2632
Greetings!

Here is some updated contact information:

    Company Name : Trend Micro
Contact Name : David Swenson (or Matt Yang)
Phone : (408) 257-1500 x-342 (he says this should work)
    Fax :
Email : "[email protected]" or "[email protected]"
    Date/Time in : 18-MAR-1997 17:29

I did finally speak with both Dave and Matt. I confirmed the processor type.
They recently purchased this with Windows NT pre-installed, but since they have
a second hard drive and the Digital UNIX distribution, they'd like to dual boot
this. I'll be sending them both a gob of email shortly and told them to call
me back if it doesn't make sense...

3355.7Still confused! - more mail sent...AMCUCS::SWIERKOWSKIQuot homines tot sententiaeThu Mar 27 1997 19:2419
Greetings!

Matt did send me mail back - they sound very confused. Despite the assorted
messages I sent last week, they still can't get the SRM image loaded. I've
sent more mail (repeating the basic steps I detailed last week) especially on
"half-FlashROM" systems, sent him pointers to the pages in the User Information
manual, part numbers for the Firmware CD kit and await a response...

3355.8Call closed...AMCUCS::SWIERKOWSKIQuot homines tot sententiaeThu Mar 27 1997 20:0017
Greetings!

Matt sent me another reply - I must have said something magical. He's got
it working, understands why & what he is doing re: the console and said I can
close this call, 'nuff said...
