Specifically "user id" is specified numerically. Problem: I want to specify a "text user ID" since the user ID that the files should belong to may not have the same numeric user ID as the system generating the kit. Ex: I want the file to belong to "joe". My UID for joe may be 300, but on the customer's system it may be 400. Question: Must I always edit the ".inv" inventory files manually after execution of the "kits" command? Or is there some other proper method to specify the user name? Thanks in advance!! From what I can see, there isn't a way to do what you want other than, as you mention, editing the ".inv" file yourself. But I have forwarded your question to the engineering group in case someone there can come up with a clever suggestion. I will let you know what they say Regards Nick Hudson Digital Software Partner Engineering | |||||

They also discourage editing the ".inv" file to change the file ownership; they suggest that a better approach would be to install the files concerned with one UID and change the file ownership subsequently, using a subset control program (see chapter 3 of the "Guide to Preparing Product Kits") Regards Nick Hudson Digital Software Partner Engineering |
