| I forwarded this request to XLIB::ASAP, and now the MAIL that just came about
the rental program. Carole Dahlstrom replied as follows:
Hi Chuck,
Might be. Thanks. We were just given the info about the rental program
yesterday so I haven't even had a chance to look it over. Glad you
jogged my memory about it.

Here's the note on the rental program:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A RENTAL PROGRAM FOR PARTNERS
At the Executive Seminar in Orlando, Florida in February, the Americas
Systems Business Unit launched a cost-effective rental program for SBU
Partners based in the U.S. The program offers Partners the latest Alpha
Hardware and Technology for demonstration, training, trade shows, seminars
and other short-term requirements.
Partners can rent DIGITAL SBU workstations and servers for up to six
months at a competitive rate of 2.5% of the list price per month -- with
flexible end-of-term options:
o Purchase the product and receive up to 60% credits on each
monthly payment
o Renew on a month-by-month basis
o Return the products at the end of the rental term
o Establish a 12-to-36 month lease
This attractive program makes it easy for Partners to do business with
DIGITAL -- outstanding low rates, no down payment, off book financing,
equity accrual, convenient order placement, fast delivery, current products
and technology and world-class support services.
Partners contact Keith Layton, Digital Financial Services at 800-343-3451
for server product rentals or Walter Van Wyck, Vernon Computer Rentals at
800-827-2360 for workstation rentals. For general program inquiries,
contact Steve Dyer at 508-952-3495, DTN: 227-3495 or
[email protected].

Hi Chuck,
Just wanted to let you know I called NovaStor and suggested they use
the porting center in Palo Alto. Turns out they're not a member of the
ASAP program (didn't renew) but they can use the porting center without
being a member. The rental program, by the way, is only for members/
partners and since they didn't renew, they couldn't use it anyhow!
Never pass up an opportunity, though--I used the rental program as a
ploy to get them to sign up again!
