Brief Description of Problem:
-----------------------------
This call appears to be a duplicate of #3240 & #2318 re: use of setpapertray
not working on an LPS32 (was working on a LPS17). I chased the note referenced
in #3240 (see HUMANE::POSTSCRIPT_PRINTING, note #7106) and emailed Fred the
reply from that conference.
He also seemed dissatisfied with the (lack of) response he got to this problem
he sent mail about last week and over a month ago. The first call re: "paper
trays" from Graymatter was logged by Miller Chin logged back on 31-JUL-1996 on
behalf of Scott Vidican. This call was closed a long time ago. The most recent
call re: "paper trays" & LPS32 from Graymatter was logged by Carl Amorelli on
26-FEB-1997. I'm not sure what Fred is upset about but I did confirm that two
calls from Graymatter re: LPS32's were received and acted upon. I've pointed
him the CSC for remedial break/fix support on Printers since this is hardly a
"porting" issue...

Subj: Call you logged with the ASAP Hotline re: LPS17 vs LPS32 paper trays...
Greetings!
I spotted two calls opened (and subsequently closed) from Graymatter re:
paper tray issues on LPS32's (vs LPS17's). The first was called/emailed
in by "Scott Vidican", dated: 31-JUL-1996. Miller Chin logged this call on
behalf of Scott and pointed him to Digital Services (in Seattle) at the
following phone number: (206) 562-6417 or (800) 777-4343, option #3 for
pre-sales support. This call was subsequently closed as it really has nothing
to do with the ASAP program's charter to provide "porting and migration" sup-
port. The second call was called/emailed by yourself, dated 26-FEB-1997. You
may have spoken/exchanged mail with Carl Amorelli at that time. Carl posted a
note describing your problem in an internal support conference. Someone re-
sponded to Carl's note today with the following reply:
<-- begin note reply --->
No known problems with setpapertray
1 = upper input cassette
2 = middle
3 = large capacity tray
tray selection in a PostScript level 2 PrintServer is subject to save
and restore operations
trayswitch or input tray failover is NOT support on the LPS32
If you want more help, you'll have to get the specific information
about the LPS17 and LPS32 in question - versions etc and a more
detailed description of the `anomalous behavior'
<-- end note reply --->
I hope the above makes sense to you, (I don't know PrintServers). If you
are still having problems and feel the LPS32 is not working correctly, you'll
need to pursue this via the Customer Support Center (1-800-354-9000) so someone
can be dispatched to your site to go through H/W rev levels, etc., cheers...
