    Brief Description of Problem:
    -----------------------------

This note is a placeholder for me now that I've actually made contact with
someone at Baan. I don't know where Baan fits on the radar scope, but local
management asked me to handle this personally for now.

Bill got two of these systems from the "Seed Program" along with two 512MB
add-on memory modules. Plugging both in the same system (total 1.5GB & w/ 3
modules) yields some sort of "mismatch" error. I suggested that he add memory
only in balanced pairs. If he can add just one module to the existing system
(came with 512MB - geometry unknown), then he probably just needs to keep
the other add-on for the second system. I'll figure out configuration rules
for Prioris servers after Bill responds to more email I sent asking for a
detailed configuration of what he's got now. Most of the details are in my
head right now (lots of phone tag) and the rest is in the email we've been
exchanging. Status report sent to everyone who might care, will pursue this
tomorrow...

3253.1Memory configuration was wrong...AMCUCS::SWIERKOWSKIQuot homines tot sententiaeFri Feb 28 1997 18:2732
Greetings!

Per a message I sent to Bill last night soliciting detailed configuration
on all of his systems, the Prioris servers (2) he are:

Vital stats on the Prioris:

Sytem type: Prioris ZX 6200MP
Processor: 4-way Pentium Pro 200
Memory: 1024mb total. 2 - 512mb kits
OS: Not installed yet

FWIW, these systems came with 128MB of memory (presumbly 2 x 64MB modules).
The two add-on memory kits he was trying to install in just one of the systems
were 512MB kits (presumbly composed of 4 - 128MB kits). He went back to the
documentation, removed all of the 128MB pieces and put both 512MB kits in to
get the desired 1GB of memory in one of the two machines and now both systems
appear to be fine.

The CPU problem (not sure on detailed symptoms here) turned out to be Bill
not switching on both power supplies (required for driving all 4 CPU's). I
assume he'll install the operarting system next and get back to if he gets
wedged again. I'm going to leave this call open a while longer...

3253.2Email "ping" sent, awaiting response...AMCUCS::SWIERKOWSKIQuot homines tot sententiaeWed Mar 05 1997 15:1416
Greetings!

I just sent an email ping to Bill asking if I can close this call. His last
email indicated he has one of the two systems configured the way he wants it,
awaiting a response (I'll close anyway by weeks end if I don't here back from
him)...
