Our product is an archiving solution and we need to communicate data read or written from a daemon to user environement. In order to do that we use a share memory beetween the daemon and the user . It seems that doing any I/O : reading / writing from a DAT for example to a shared memory crash the system. We are running digital unix version 4. Do you know this problem ? do you have a fix or a work around ? Thanks for your help. I have been unable to reproduce your problem using your example program. I did notice that you example program does a number of write() calls to the shared-memory descriptor. This is not strictly legal; although when I amended the code to check the status return I didn't actually get an error back. You should use ftruncate() to set the size of the shared-memory object. I suggest you change your program and see if the problem persists. Regards, John Wood | |||||
