Brief Description of Problem:
-----------------------------
This partner is currently porting their app from X86 to Alpha NT. They used
4.2 on Intel and took advantage of its new features. Therefore, they want the
4.2 version for Alpha.
Are you folks taking care of these requests?
Thanks.

Bob,
The team who will be shipping 4.2 to you needs proof that you already have a
legitimate copy of VC++ for Alpha. If you do not, please let me know.
Otherwise, go ahead and FAX them your current license to:
Eric Getsinger
(FAX) 206/865-8890
This should speed things up.
Thank you,
Pat Bryant

Note 462.1 Alpha Visual C++ 4.2 Status? 1 of 1
DECWET::GETSINGER "Prod Mgr -- Languages for Window" 25 lines 12-FEB-1997 17:29
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The latest OFFICIAL release of VC++ for Alpha is version 4.0A, which is
functionally equivalent to Intel V4.1.
A LIMITED release of V4.2 for the Alpha architecture is available on an
as-needed basis. Here are the requirements:
1. Must have purchased an Alpha version of VC++ (V4.0 or V4.0A).
2. Must have a good reason as to why they need V4.2.
3. Must be shipping a product BEFORE 5/31/97.
If it is at all possible, I would prefer to have customers use a beta
version of V5.0.
If you have a customer who fits this profile, send a message to Eric
Getsinger ([email protected]). In the message, include the following
information:
Company name
Street address (no PO boxes)
Contact name
Contact phone
Contact fax
Contact Internet address
As I mentioned above, be sure to thoroughly explain the need for V4.2.
