    Brief Description of Problem:
    -----------------------------
Customer Code: 905047

Greetings,

We are running into a problem getting OpenGL applications to run on our
Alpha systems. The first system is a DEC 3000 M600, running DEC UNIX
3.2G, and Open3D V3.3. The second system is a DEC 3000 M600, running DEC
UNIX 4.0, and Open 3D v4.0. I belive that both machines have Pixelvision
graphics.

Whenever we try to start an OpenGL app the error 'GLX not supported on
this device' appears and the app fails to start.

Does this indicate a software problem, or are the newer versions of Open3D
not compatible with our graphics boards?

Thanks,
-Dave

3105.1Need exact graphics controller...AMCUCS::SWIERKOWSKIQuot homines tot sententiaeWed Jan 29 1997 18:2727
Greetings!

Need to get exact graphics controllers installed on system(s). The "Pixel-
Vision" controller the customer believes are present in his system(s) comes
in two flavors:

	- The ZLX-M1 (PMAGC-AA) - low-end PixelVision card; 2 TC slots
	- The ZLX-M2 (PMAGC-BA) - midrange PixelVision card; 3 TC slots

I believe both are supported by recent (as well as older) releases of Open3D.
Note 4.last in the BGSDEV::OPEN3D conference says that Open3D V4.2 kit for
Digital UNIX 4.0a/4.0b is the latest kit (note dated 18-DEC-96), perhaps an
upgrade of Open3D is in order? FWIW, previous replies to that note suggest
that for Digital UNIX V3.2, the Open3D kit is V3.4 and for Digital UNIX V4.0,
the Open3D kit is 4.0 so the customers V3.2 system might be slightly down-rev
as far as Open3D goes. Not sur why the Open3D V4.0 kit on Digital UNIX V4.0
isn't working, but you need more exact hardware (graphics controller) informa-
tion anyway I think, cheers...

Pat,

I forgot to install the license PAKs, they're working now.

Thanks!
