    OS Version : 6.2
    System H/W : Sandpiper, Avanti

    Brief Description of Problem:
    -----------------------------
They have ported medical imaging application from SUN OS to openVMS 6.2 with
X11R5. System is through beta and distributed.

They have intermitent problem processing mouse button actions.

With buttons 1 and 2 both held down the system acts like one button
spontaneously comes up and the mouse position moves a large distance.

Although random for initial start. Once it occurs it stays until a re-login.

I suggested they make their software more robust which they are doing.

They ask that we check our notes files for a similar report.

Carl suggests decwindows and motif. Also do they have right version of motif

    Subject:Problem with mouse actions
    --------
    Stephen-

Your problem with mouse actions using OpenVMS has been assigned a log
    no. of
    3102.

I checked our OpenVMS files for a similar report but could not find
    one.

In the recent past we have found that some very difficult problems that
    show up
only in field installations have been due to data alignment errors.

In one case it was a controlled variable that was used as a semiphore.
    It
was not aligned on a quad word boundry. Certain timing situations
    resulted
    critcal failures.

    Regards,
