Hi,
I heard a song today off of a Christine Lavine CD.. its' called Scatter
New Seeds... and it made me think of what type of a life I would have
if I wasn't afraid of taking a big risk and going off and doing what I
wanted to do, not what I had to do, to make a living...
The words:
There's a man who lives on an island
his eyes are as blue as the sky
his skin is as brown as the berry that falls
when autumn leaves blow by
his wavy hair is streaked with silver
like surf curls under moonlight
his smile's so sweet
it could turn up the heat
on the chilliest, foggiest night
He runs an inn by the water
where mainland tourists stay
he bakes fresh bread every monring at 5
and says "its' a wonderful day"
he walks the beach at sunrise
starts making beds at 10
counts his blessings every night
tomorrow he'll do it all again
Chorus:
This is a life
he never would have thought possible
if he had stayed
where he was before
but life is short
he refused to be miserable
so he packed his bags
waved goodbye
then he closed that door
His friends back home were startled
and sadly shook their heads
"chalk it up to a mid-life crisis"
they knowingly said
but as days turned into weeks and months
and he did not return
they took a harder look at their own lives
and lessons never learned
Chorus
He is well aware of those
who wat to see him fall
but they are outnumbered by those
who want him to stand tall
The road that he is traveling
is one that more of us would choose
if we weren't so afraid of
what in life we just might lose
There will be times the doubts will roll in
the blue will turn grey
old habits are so hard to break
if inertia gets its way
so, listen to your own heart
follow where it leads
time to pull up old roots
scatter new seeds...

That is quite nice. As we get older, we get less flexible (usually) and
comfortable relationships, jobs and material posessions tie us up
(down). We settle for the good life, not the great life.

If I had my choice.. I would move somewhere on the outskirts of some
tourist-type place and run a bed and breakfast... I've looked into it
several times... (Wyoming, Montana, Maine, Oregon) just never had
the "gumption" to make the break...
I'm always looking at Inns for sale and have read a lot about it... I
have a friend who is a pastry chef/baker who has worked in the
restaurant business most of his life interested in doing
it with me... we still talk about it...
Dreams are cheap... (-;

I'd open up a virtual world, around here, dammit! And do it right!
So anyone wanna lend me a coupla mil? :^)
Ahh, dreams,
Mike.
(The bloody bad thing is you'd know they'd work, all you need is the
capital to start 'em)

I enjoyed the note 47.0- i like it as a poem even!!!
it seems to say so much that sometimes I can not put into words-
I too would like to pull roots for a better life and not stay with
the pieces that my 'x" left me- that's were true friends come in!
People that have been in your shoes, that know the walk!!
I pictured a man that was happy and content with his "new" life
that he chose for himself....
For now I will daydream......
