41.0. "All ages, not primarily just to party" by CRUISE::LELSTON () Wed Feb 05 1997 14:23

    Hi

There already appears to be a note/group in this conference that
is primarily for partying/clubing. And there are already notes in this
conference for specific age groups. This one could be for all age
groups, for other than clubing/partying. This is not to say that
social gatherings are excluded. This would be for singles, couples
(married or not), and if possible some events could include children.

My name is Lou Elston (for specifics, see singles ad 7533).

Things that would interest me are Theaters, movies, traveling
(warm climates preferred right now), dinners, comedy clubs where
someone does not have to curse every other word, sports (participation
activities like racquetball, tennis, volleyball, walleyball, cross
country skying (I would have to learn), etc). In the summertime,
    beaches, lakes, mountains, etc.

If you get enough people together, a day to something like a
ski resort could be downhill for some, cross country for others,
shopping for others, and dinner for all.

A day at a health club could be racquetball for some, tennis for
some, basketball, volleyball, pool/hot tub, etc, and then dinner for
    all.

There might be those who are authorities on art, the mansions in
R.I., Archery, biking, etc., who may wish to lead/instruct at certain
    gatherings.

    	What do You think ??

    	Lou

Lou - see future events suggestions - trip to the aquarium, sliding,
playing pool, charity aution, we've mentioned movies/dinner, etc..

We've been going dancing since that seems to be popular at the moment -
I don't equate that to partying, but I guess others do - but hey that's
what makes the world go 'round - we're all different - especially Shawn
    :-)

    	I'll consider that a compliment ... thanks!!

    Hi Lou,

I'd be interested in cross country skiing or theater, perhaps other
quieter things. But the person who suggests it, seems to be by
default, the person who sets it up.

I just don't want to be the default person. Not enough time or
    energy these days.

It's my understanding that the suggested social events was for *any* type of
event. Like Joyce said it just so happens that all the events so far have been
going to see bands. There have been other suggestions as well - the rafting
trip, a comedy night planned for next weekend, discussions about the Amesbury
sports park and so on.

I'm all for a variety of events! May I suggest that for simplicity we keep the
Suggested Social Events note as the place for suggesting future events, with the
understanding that all types of events are game?

If you'd like to suggest other types of events, go for it! (I'm sure Joyce
wouldn't mind the break from being social director.) ;-)

I think it is just Joyce has been active in setting things up,
and this is what we've done so far.

The only other suggestions someone has actively persued were Bob with
snowtubing (which, well, bombed :-), and Kathleen with rafting, and
    the pool playing.

You just need to go in the Social note and suggest it, arrange it, be
vocal! It isn't there just for drinking/dancing.

Speaking as mod, I think that "big planning" events ought to have their
own note. The rafting trip is an example. Otherwise, we can use one note.
