I usually go with my sister, its a night out and great exercise,
the cost is $5 and the lessons are 7-10.
The new lessons start tonight, but I went last night to the
intermediate class, so I won't be going tonight. I will be going
next week, this is not a "formal" adventure - I'll be there if you want
to join me fine - if not - fine...

Carvelles in Chelmsford is a bowling alley that has rock-n-bowl..
Was bowling a 200 game there when the #&@#*# lights went out and
music started blaring. Threw a gutter ball and blew my game ;-)
Dinner and a movie??
Skating on Boston Common's new open air rink followed by some
Beantown Clubbing.
Roller skating with a game of laser tag.
I'd be willing to host a cookie swap if anyone would be
interested? (children welcome)
Also in spring how about a perennial plant swap?? Used to go to
one yearly when I was married. You'd bring a bunch of surplus
perennials. If you get enough people you can walk away with an
incredible variey of plants for nada.
Hmme Worc Icecats would be fun to watch a game then clubbing
afterwards.
Harlem Globetrotters are at the Centrum in March.

| Hmmm after my cold shower yesterday I got to thinking of this
summer. How about a Singles Chat day at Water Country?? I feel their
prices are outragious but my kids and I have a blast every time we go.
Another event that might be doable would be a trip to Boston..
The Museum of Science or Children's museum followed by a trek to Quincey
Market.
A weekend camping trip to Salisbury Beach might be fun too..
I'd also consider Hershey Pa. depending on how projects mature
in my group. I had an incredible time there with my kids the first
summer vacation on my own. It woulda been that much nicer with some
adults along. Something like this'd be a big one cause it would mean
co-ordinating vacation time. When we went we camped at a KOA.. It was
a bit over $100 for 5 days. I'm not sure my tow vehicle is up to such a
long trip so I'd probably have to tent camp..

I've been there the past two summers with my kids. A lot of fun; very
nice place. Don't think I'll be able to swing it this summer, but I
also recommend it, in general. You've got Gettysburg nearby too for
anyone into a little diversion into history. [But both times we went

On another note, again this year I've got four tickets to the Red Sox
for all Saturday and Sunday games (that's 28 games). I probably make
half those at most, and sell (or attempt to give away, if the Sox pull
their usual) the rest. I already maintain a mailing list where I move
them at short notice, usually discounted, but if I know the kids and I
aren't going on a particular day, I can post in here if anyone's
interested.
These tickets are in the bleachers, but right up front with a good
view, straight-away CF (Section 35, Row 5), in a reasonably
well-behaved (I know, there's always a catch) season-ticket section,
and at $10/per they're still (somewhat) affordable.
If nothing else, the Red Sox offer a legitimate excuse to drink... ;-)

we can get a slight discount at Water Country. Another group I belong
to had a day at Water Country last summer and we got a few dollars off.
Also, around the Museum of Science, they have a special exhibit on
Leonardo Da Vinci, that is the only showing here in the US. I believe
it is going to be there till September. I would be willing to call the

Nope -- If anything she owes me one but I suspect we're pretty
close to even. I saw her in "Pinafore" and "Yeoman" and you and she
made it to "OPM". ;-) Of course neither of you made it to "Mecca". ;-)
According to my notes, "Patience" opens the 18th. If this show is
anything like "Pinafore" at MIT, it pays to make reservations in advance.
I just squeaked in the last time.

Do you guys like Thai food? There's a really good Thai restaurant on 27 right

have to travel last time we could do something closer to Maynard this time. ;-)

I'd mention that.

Its the little things that get to us...
Like when you mention you like something in a conversation, like
the easter candy robbins eggs and the next time you see him - he's
gotten some for you.
Or you take some extra time getting ready for the date and the first
words out of his mouth when he sees you aren't "hi" - they're "you look
lovely".
Or when he's worried about your driving home in the storm and you get
home and the phone is ringing and its him - checking to see if you made
it home and then he shovels your driveway and deck out the next day...

| quoting Eddie Murphy "...actually the closet way to a woman's heart is
through her ribcage..."
Seriously though, if I've learned one thing in the school of
relationships from hell, it's that one small act of thoughtfulness and
consideration is still way better than 2 hours of kissing up.
The most common example is if your s/o gets up much earlier than you,
get up and have her coffee ready before she hits 'snooze' a second
time. A kiss on the forehead and a "honey it's time to get up or you'll
be late" and her days starts *just* a little better than normal. And if
she doesn't drive, pick her up at the bus stop/subway station in
weather you wouldn't willingly weather yourself, whether or not you
feel like it.
Just a few thoughts....

One question, how do I edit my own messages? I often mrsspell words or
flip-flop letters in a word (comes from my being an agnostic dyslexic -

Extract the posted note to a file, delete the note, then
REP filename
and make your changes.
Or, if you like living on the edge, delete the note and then type
REP/LAST
and the very last entry you typed will appear before you. But
keep in mind that this buffer is emptied/deleted as soon as you
exit from NOTES, and is overwritten every time you type REPLY to
create a new entry. So it only works for the very last entry.
There's no way to edit a reply once it's posted.

27.348 | 4/11 at the Shirley Club casual dress ok | WRKSYS::BROWER | Pokey Smurf | Fri Apr 11 1997 16:59 | 20 |
| A couple of us are headed over to the Shirley Club in Shirley
Center. We're not sure what'll be playing this evening.. Directions
follow:
Coming from Leominster, the best way to get there is Shirley Road (take
a left at the lights by Brooks/Wymans Liquor Store when you're coming
from the Weathervane area). Follow that road all the way into Shirley
and the club is just past the bank and before the gas station on the
'other side of the tracks'! Confused?? Don't be.. Shirley isn't that
big!! Coming from Leom/Rt2 just take the Shirley exit, go to the right
and follow that road into town. When you come to the bottom of the hill
(stop sign here) bear/bare (whichever is fine...) to the right. About
1/4 mile into town, you'll see the post office/bank/gas station and if
you go by all of this .. you're in Ayer.
It'll be Steph, her friend Kath, and me

Weds - Sechwan Pavillion looks better than Cross Roads.
Whoever organizes will need to call them Tuesday and make the

BTW, I've been to Stooges. The dance floor is quite small but was ok
in the long run. Had fun identifying the 'faces' on the wall.. you'll
have to go there and try that yourselves! Stooges has a variety of
music booked. Bands start at 9/9:30. The only drawback was that it
seems to attract the College crowd.. ok.. "kids". It wasn't bad but
they need to do something about the temperature in there... it went
from too hot to way too cool. I can think of easier places to get to
so I'm not sure I'd go there again unless there's a group of us going.

| re: .354 by CANON::BARROWS
Steph,
The Sechwan Pavillion is amongst the small group of shops at Nagog in
Acton.
From Maynard, head north on 27 till you get to 119/2A. Turn left at
the lights there. Head west for a couple of miles till you come to a
large body of water on the left. Turn right at the lights into the
shopping area. The S.P. is toward the right end of the large block of
shops.
From 495, get off at exit 31 (rt 119) and head EAST for several miles.
You'll see the large body of water on the right. Turn left at the
lights into the shopping area. The S.P. is toward the right end of the
large block of shops.
Buzz me if anyone needs a map. ;-)

No, it's just what _I_ called it. If such a deficiency did exist,
I wouldn't have poked fun. ;-) I have to try to be politically
correct in these notesfiles, much as it turns my stomach to do so.

No offense meant of course. I'm sure you could read the calendar as

Flat?????? The Cape is NOT flat, at least not the PMC route! there are several
major hills. One of them killed me the first year - right in the beginning of
the 2nd day and I hurt my Achille's tendon on it. ;-( Thought it was the worst
hill in the world. Am glad to say that last year (2 years later) I got to the
top of the hill and said "that's it????". ;-) There are still some other
loooooong hills though.

last year. Then I mostly ride it with Angeline on the back.
(Please, let's not rathole into the business about kids on the
bike. Heard enough of that). But I'd like to learn to get full
use of that bike on the off weekends that Angeline's with her

18 speeds I don't know squat about how to use. I always wanted

cj having kids on the back of your bike is great!! It helps them

Nope, rarely crowded. Just the occasional jogger or biker
or person pushing a stroller. It's a handy, quiet place
to ride without having to go too far. I usually do a
loop or two of the main trails. They start at the
high school, go around the pond, under Rt3, all the
way to almost downtown Nashua and back.
I park my truck or car at the Nashua High School and
get into Mines Falls right there.

Well, once again I can suggest an alternative. If it's not too soon
for another party I'll offer up my house in Hollis on Saturday night.
I actually found the darts for the dart board so as well as a pool table,
ping-pong, and cards I can now add darts to the mix.
Maybe being a bit more north we might see some more folks ???

| Here are directions for Saturday night...
This includes directions to the school where the show is from route 3, direct-
ions to Martha's or Coyote Cafe from route 3 and directions to the school from
Martha's or Coyote Cafe.
**************************
TO THE SCHOOL FROM ROUTE 3
**************************
You want to get to ELM ST. JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL in Nashua. It is at the corner of
Lake St and Elm St (one block up Lake from Main St).
From the south on ROUTE 3 take EXIT 5E. You will hit a stop sign at the "end"
of the ramp (which ends up being more like a road). Bear RIGHT and join the
rest of the traffic.
From the north on ROUTE 3 take EXIT 5E. Bear RIGHT on the exit ramp and head
back over the highway.
These will both put you on KINSLEY ST, a one-way street.
At the SECOND blinking light, take a RIGHT onto FAIRVIEW. At the stop sign,
take a LEFT onto LAKE ST.
Follow LAKE ST almost to the end. You'll see the school on your left, a little
ways past the fire house which is on the right.
Park where ever you can. Allow time to find parking, it can be tough.
****************************************
TO MARTHA'S OR COYOTE CAFE FROM ROUTE 3
****************************************
From the south on ROUTE 3 take EXIT 5E. You will hit a stop sign at the "end"
of the ramp. Bear RIGHT and join the rest of the traffic.
From the north on ROUTE 3 take EXIT 5E. Bear RIGHT on the exit ramp.
These will both put you on KINSLEY ST, a one-way street which will bring you to
Main St.
You will go through a couple of lights. You will hit one with a sign pointing
left for the bus station. The NEXT intersection after this one will be Main St.
Take a LEFT onto MAIN ST. Both Martha's and Coyote Cafe are a couple of blocks
up Main St on the left.
******************************************
TO THE SCHOOL FROM MARTHA'S OR COYOTE CAFE
******************************************
Get back onto Main St heading back towards Kinsley.
STAY in the RIGHT lane. Look for the movie theatre on your left and a Shell
station on your right. The intersection at the Shell station is Lake and Main.
Take a RIGHT onto LAKE ST. The school will be one block up on the right. Park
whereever you can find a spot (parking is tough).

Marthas is both, depending on where you sit.
Michael Timothy's is across the street and is excellent, but pricey.
San Francisco Kitchen (up the street) is pricey and "nouvelle" (and

music and a dance floor. You can sit in the restaurant side and go over to the
bar. Oh, just to be clear, this is in ADDITION to dinner not INSTEAD of...

The general rule at Martha's is, the darker, the better, and even then
it tops out fairly low on the scale. Their lighter stuff is among the
worst beers I've ever tasted-- e.g. stick with Budweiser.

| Hi Bob,
Yes, you always need to be carefull. But you need to start to
introduce your young lady to the world. At 16 you have a young adult
now, that it seems you were just holding in your arms. It is a age
where they do not like to be treated like a child except at Christmas
time. You are the parent though, but this has been my expierence.
My son is finishing his first year at Plymouth State College.

be good fun for Barb to be able to go with the theatre crowd also.
I myself haven't even gotten my sitter yet, so don't know if I'm

Yes, it's not the greatest place in the world but somewhere along the way this
Actorsingers tradition was started. We basically take over the dining room.

Thanks for the thought CJ but either (or some place else) is fine with me. I'll
be with the cast and crew all weekend (well all WEEK too for that matter) so I
don't need to do the Actorsinger thing post show on Sat.

Two excellent guitarists, a killer horn section, and an amazing

Here are the show times at Loews in Leominster.
The Fifth Element (PG-13)
Fri - Tue (12:40 3:30) 6:30 9:10 [first two times are matinees]
"Starring: Bruce Willis, Gary Oldman, Ian Holm, Milla Jovovich, Luke
Perry. Directed by Luc Besson. Willis plays a New York cab driver who
is swept up in a battle between the ultimate forces of good and evil."
Good reviews. Better than "The Lost World" in fact, though I enjoyed
