wanted to try the beginner's country line dance lessons at The

I usually go with my sister, its a night out and great exercise,
the cost is $5 and the lessons are 7-10.

The new lessons start tonight, but I went last night to the
intermediate class, so I won't be going tonight. I will be going
next week, this is not a "formal" adventure - I'll be there if you want
to join me fine - if not - fine...

27.82When we get more snow X-country skiingWRKSYS::BROWERFri Feb 07 1997 17:038
I'd be willing to try to help arrange a x-country skiing trip if
it ever snows. My past two attempts at arranging things have been
disaters though. The singles dance at Best Western and Snow tubing :-)
I lack Joyce's managerial skills or mayhaps just haven't found the
right event. The closest x-country ski place with snow is Windblown.
    It's in south central NH.

and http://www.xcski.org/

There's a good deal of snow up in the White Mountains of NH or Green Mountains
of VT! I've only been doing downhill in those areas, but they are more of a
winter wonderland than you might expect. I actually found enough snow to go
x-country around the parks in Nashua recently. More on the way, I hear.

Still thinking snow,

Well, I'm just overwhelmed with things to do Saturday night! ;->

Ok, this is what I've decided...I have a sitter, I'm not staying
home. I think I'll catch a show in Boston. The ones I've been
wanting to see are sold out for the night (Rent and Blue Man Group),
so this is supposedly the last week (and an old choice I had forgotten
    about) for Late Night Catechism.

Any reviews on it? Any interest in going?

Be prepared to shell out big $$$.

The advertised number is Ticket Master. They'll sock you a "service
charge" on top of the already obscene ticket price. You might want to try
the box office directly instead.

A friend made the arrangements when I went, so sorry, I don't have
any of the other details.

Also in spring how about a perennial plant swap?? Used to go to

Hmmm after my cold shower yesterday I got to thinking of this
summer. How about a Singles Chat day at Water Country?? I feel their
prices are outragious but my kids and I have a blast every time we go.

Another event that might be doable would be a trip to Boston..
The Museum of Science or Children's museum followed by a trek to Quincey
    Market.

A weekend camping trip to Salisbury Beach might be fun too..

I'd also consider Hershey Pa. depending on how projects mature
in my group. I had an incredible time there with my kids the first
summer vacation on my own. It woulda been that much nicer with some
adults along. Something like this'd be a big one cause it would mean
co-ordinating vacation time. When we went we camped at a KOA.. It was
a bit over $100 for 5 days. I'm not sure my tow vehicle is up to such a
long trip so I'd probably have to tent camp..

I've been there the past two summers with my kids. A lot of fun; very

also recommend it, in general. You've got Gettysburg nearby too for

27.165Red Sox tix...EDWIN::WAUGAMANWed Mar 26 1997 09:5318

On another note, again this year I've got four tickets to the Red Sox
for all Saturday and Sunday games (that's 28 games). I probably make
half those at most, and sell (or attempt to give away, if the Sox pull
their usual) the rest. I already maintain a mailing list where I move
them at short notice, usually discounted, but if I know the kids and I
aren't going on a particular day, I can post in here if anyone's
    interested.

These tickets are in the bleachers, but right up front with a good
view, straight-away CF (Section 35, Row 5), in a reasonably
    well-behaved (I know, there's always a catch) season-ticket section,
and at $10/per they're still (somewhat) affordable.

If nothing else, the Red Sox offer a legitimate excuse to drink... ;-)

Some good suggestions Bob. If we have a big enough group, I believe
we can get a slight discount at Water Country. Another group I belong
to had a day at Water Country last summer and we got a few dollars off.
Also, around the Museum of Science, they have a special exhibit on
Leonardo Da Vinci, that is the only showing here in the US. I believe
it is going to be there till September. I would be willing to call the
Museum and check into prices and schedule.

close to even. I saw her in "Pinafore" and "Yeoman" and you and she
made it to "OPM". ;-) Of course neither of you made it to "Mecca". ;-)

quoting Eddie Murphy "...actually the closet way to a woman's heart is
    through her ribcage..."

Seriously though, if I've learned one thing in the school of
relationships from hell, it's that one small act of thoughtfulness and
consideration is still way better than 2 hours of kissing up.

The most common example is if your s/o gets up much earlier than you,
get up and have her coffee ready before she hits 'snooze' a second
time. A kiss on the forehead and a "honey it's time to get up or you'll
be late" and her days starts *just* a little better than normal. And if
she doesn't drive, pick her up at the bus stop/subway station in
weather you wouldn't willingly weather yourself, whether or not you
    feel like it.

    Just a few thoughts....

A couple of us are headed over to the Shirley Club in Shirley
Center. We're not sure what'll be playing this evening.. Directions
    follow:

Coming from Leominster, the best way to get there is Shirley Road (take
a left at the lights by Brooks/Wymans Liquor Store when you're coming
from the Weathervane area). Follow that road all the way into Shirley
and the club is just past the bank and before the gas station on the
'other side of the tracks'! Confused?? Don't be.. Shirley isn't that
big!! Coming from Leom/Rt2 just take the Shirley exit, go to the right
and follow that road into town. When you come to the bottom of the hill
(stop sign here) bear/bare (whichever is fine...) to the right. About
1/4 mile into town, you'll see the post office/bank/gas station and if
you go by all of this .. you're in Ayer.

BTW, I've been to Stooges. The dance floor is quite small but was ok
in the long run. Had fun identifying the 'faces' on the wall.. you'll
have to go there and try that yourselves! Stooges has a variety of
music booked. Bands start at 9/9:30. The only drawback was that it
seems to attract the College crowd.. ok.. "kids". It wasn't bad but
they need to do something about the temperature in there... it went
from too hot to way too cool. I can think of easier places to get to
so I'm not sure I'd go there again unless there's a group of us going.

The Sechwan Pavillion is amongst the small group of shops at Nagog in
    Acton.

From Maynard, head north on 27 till you get to 119/2A. Turn left at
the lights there. Head west for a couple of miles till you come to a
large body of water on the left. Turn right at the lights into the
shopping area. The S.P. is toward the right end of the large block of

bike a lot so I'd be interested in short to medium distances. My
hiking ability depends on my condition at the time. I can hike the
flats as well as anyone, but hiking UP mountains takes conditioning.

Just wanted to voice these ideas so that interest can be gauged and
    planning can begin early.

    Thanks,

    Bill

I like biking and moderate hiking. I'd like biking even more if they
put tractor seats on bikes :-) after about 35 miles on a regular bike
seat I walk as if I'd been horseback riding...
I did a real healthy portion of the Cape Bike trails last spring.
Nice and flat and very scenic...

Flat?????? The Cape is NOT flat, at least not the PMC route! there are several
major hills. One of them killed me the first year - right in the beginning of
the 2nd day and I hurt my Achille's tendon on it. ;-( Thought it was the worst
hill in the world. Am glad to say that last year (2 years later) I got to the
top of the hill and said "that's it????". ;-) There are still some other
loooooong hills though.

I like the hiking, although I'd definitely have to work my
way up. I couldn't handle much just yet as I've done *nothing*
for so long. But I love to walk and can go the distance with
    moderate hills to start with.

Biking, I have my mountain bike that got next to no use until
last year. Then I mostly ride it with Angeline on the back.
(Please, let's not rathole into the business about kids on the
bike. Heard enough of that). But I'd like to learn to get full
use of that bike on the off weekends that Angeline's with her
father. I mean, I never even owned a ten speed and now I have
18 speeds I don't know squat about how to use. I always wanted
to do go riding around Harold Parker Forest to get used to it.
Just never got there last year.

          Barb,

I was at the lower end of the cape near P-Town... Having run the
Plymouth to P-Town relay 8 times. I know what you mean though there're
some killer hills!! Hard to say whether it's harder to bike or run up
some of them. Usually the wind is in your face too. The stretch we did
last year was from Orleans to Truro??
cj having kids on the back of your bike is great!! It helps them
immensely when it comes time for them to start cycling. Plus it's a
great way to include them in something early on that they'd be
physically incapable of doing on their own..

RE: .391 (cj)

Nope, rarely crowded. Just the occasional jogger or biker
or person pushing a stroller. It's a handy, quiet place
to ride without having to go too far. I usually do a
loop or two of the main trails. They start at the
high school, go around the pond, under Rt3, all the
way to almost downtown Nashua and back.

I park my truck or car at the Nashua High School and

27.473Directions for Sat nightDANGER::ASKETHBeware of Greeks bearing gifts...Tue May 06 1997 16:3457
Here are directions for Saturday night...

This includes directions to the school where the show is from route 3, direct-
ions to Martha's or Coyote Cafe from route 3 and directions to the school from
Martha's or Coyote Cafe.

**************************
TO THE SCHOOL FROM ROUTE 3
**************************

You want to get to ELM ST. JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL in Nashua. It is at the corner of
Lake St and Elm St (one block up Lake from Main St).

From the south on ROUTE 3 take EXIT 5E. You will hit a stop sign at the "end"
of the ramp (which ends up being more like a road). Bear RIGHT and join the
rest of the traffic.

From the north on ROUTE 3 take EXIT 5E. Bear RIGHT on the exit ramp and head
back over the highway.

These will both put you on KINSLEY ST, a one-way street.

At the SECOND blinking light, take a RIGHT onto FAIRVIEW. At the stop sign,
take a LEFT onto LAKE ST.

Follow LAKE ST almost to the end. You'll see the school on your left, a little
ways past the fire house which is on the right.

Park where ever you can. Allow time to find parking, it can be tough.

****************************************
TO MARTHA'S OR COYOTE CAFE FROM ROUTE 3
****************************************

From the south on ROUTE 3 take EXIT 5E. You will hit a stop sign at the "end"
of the ramp. Bear RIGHT and join the rest of the traffic.

From the north on ROUTE 3 take EXIT 5E. Bear RIGHT on the exit ramp.

These will both put you on KINSLEY ST, a one-way street which will bring you to
Main St.

You will go through a couple of lights. You will hit one with a sign pointing
left for the bus station. The NEXT intersection after this one will be Main St.
Take a LEFT onto MAIN ST. Both Martha's and Coyote Cafe are a couple of blocks
up Main St on the left.

******************************************
TO THE SCHOOL FROM MARTHA'S OR COYOTE CAFE
******************************************

Get back onto Main St heading back towards Kinsley.

STAY in the RIGHT lane. Look for the movie theatre on your left and a Shell
station on your right. The intersection at the Shell station is Lake and Main.
Take a RIGHT onto LAKE ST. The school will be one block up on the right. Park
whereever you can find a spot (parking is tough).

Coyote is much more of a restaurant than a bar.

Marthas is both, depending on where you sit.

Michael Timothy's is across the street and is excellent, but pricey.

San Francisco Kitchen (up the street) is pricey and "nouvelle" (and
the service was atrocious last time I was there.)

Giant of Siam (Thai) is nearby and good.

Well, just to confuse things more - does anyone want to go to Martha's AFTER

wards I'll be psyched to go out. It doesn't have to be Martha's but it's the
first place that comes to mind (and it's close). Another option is the Haluwa
at exit 6 where the cast and crew traditionally go. There is a bar there with
music and a dance floor. You can sit in the restaurant side and go over to the
bar. Oh, just to be clear, this is in ADDITION to dinner not INSTEAD of...

The general rule at Martha's is, the darker, the better, and even then

Hi Bob,

Yes, you always need to be carefull. But you need to start to
introduce your young lady to the world. At 16 you have a young adult
now, that it seems you were just holding in your arms. It is a age
where they do not like to be treated like a child except at Christmas
time. You are the parent though, but this has been my expierence.
My son is finishing his first year at Plymouth State College.

Yes, it's not the greatest place in the world but somewhere along the way this
Actorsingers tradition was started. We basically take over the dining room.

Thanks for the thought CJ but either (or some place else) is fine with me. I'll

3 acts still TBA

Gates open at 3pm.

Anyone interested in seeing "The Fifth Element?"

Here are the show times at Loews in Leominster.

    The Fifth Element (PG-13)
     Fri - Tue (12:40 3:30) 6:30 9:10 [first two times are matinees]

"Starring: Bruce Willis, Gary Oldman, Ian Holm, Milla Jovovich, Luke
Perry. Directed by Luc Besson. Willis plays a New York cab driver who
is swept up in a battle between the ultimate forces of good and evil."

Good reviews. Better than "The Lost World" in fact, though I enjoyed
the "Jurassic Park" sequel without attempting to analyze it. "The
    Fifth Element" looks fun!

Hi Ron,
I was off on my way to stimulating my mind with a margarita or two! ;-)
There are a bunch of places right in Maynard. Mey Ling's (so-so), The Quarter-
deck, Amory's, 2 Thai places that Joyce won't go to ( ;-) ), another Italian
place that I can't think of the name of...
