I'll 2nd the "I hate living along when I'm sick" comment !!

and I'll raise :-) :-) with:

I hate living along when I have to move !! It's hard carrying both
ends of a table by yourself. I suspect this also applies to just
rearranging furniture as well, even if one is not moving.

That wind last night just 'bout scared me to death! 8-O

About 10:58 I was listening to it roar up through my backyard
with such a noise that I was ready to run by the time it hit
my house! I'm thinking I feel like a tin can being tied down
with paper clips! (I live in a mobile home).

By 11:00 I was out of bed and watching the weather channel because
I was convinced there must be tornado warnings in southern NH that
I'm just missing because the tv's off. :-)

And, believe me, if I had the guts to call anyone last night just
to talk me through it - I would have called! (Makes me wish my
brother still lived on the west coast. He was always there for me
when I needed a late night "talk"). I certainly did run down through
    a list in my head!

Kept making my motion sensor light go off - finally at 11 (and
believe me that's late for me during the week - I'm usually in
dreamland by 9-9:30) I got up and turned the damn thing off. Then
there was the fireplace glass doors - but I wasn't in the mood to turn
to soot while trying to close the damper (control is inside the
    firebox).

I look like Rocky Racoon today - big dark circles from lack of
sleep - actually I haven't slept well a night this week - is there
    something in the air?

Gee, CJ, looks like we both were looking for someone to call! ;-) Ah well,
next time I guess (though I'm like Joyce and usually in bed by 9:30 or so, cept
when I have rehearsals).

Joyce, there's a full moon on Saturday. ;-) Lack of sleep seems to be a common
thing in this group this week! I couldn't get to sleep Monday night.

Wind woke me a couple of times during the night.

I'm seldom asleep before 11:00 and often up 'til midnight just in case
any of you want to call, ;-) [I'm the one on Westwood Drive, the other Doug
Gordons in Nashua might not appreciate a late night call.]

I haven't been sleeping well lately either... must be something in
the air.

It was windy last night?

News to me. Then again, a couple weeks ago, my beeper went off at
11pm. My brother is sunning all over the house trying to find it
and I slept right through it. It was on the nightstand, 3 ft from
my head....

I had no phone all last night, and being alone with a 3yr old, and "on
call", and with all that wind .... there were people I COULD have
called if the damn thing worked.

But hey, at least all my trash barrels were still SOMEPLACE in the

I have actually been sleeping well lately. Which is pretty damn
remarkable. Maybe I miss my mommy or something :-) but I almost NEVER
sleep well alone. If I get 4, maybe 5 hours a night I am happy but the
last few days I have slept like a rock. Maybe you are all having
sympathy sleeplessness and knowing that helps me sleep better!

Seriously though.... I hope it passes quickly, coming to work on 3
hours sleep, or a bad sleep is a killer.

    re.37

Because of the way our house is, it often gets quite windy so we got a
little used to it. Sometimes if it keeps me up, I go upstairs to the
rear deck and throw the big sliding doors open and sir there lost in
thought until I simply can't stay awake anymore. We don't get wind like
you do I guess (!) but sometimes it's nice. Other than that, our
neighbourhood is *silent*... and it's the utter quiet that I find
    discomforting at times.

Does anyone ever get those times where you are wading through a real
bout of melancholy and you can't sleep because your mind won't stop
churning over and over and it is just so bloody quiet you just sit
there feeling rather small and alone?

odd thoughts on an odd day...

  >> How nice!

I'm with you Barb. My neighbor will continuosly put out his trash without
tieing the bags closed, and not bother to secure the recyclables. The city
requests the trash be put out on the morning of pickup, but he puts it out the
night before. I'm sure it's because he doesn't want to get up early. He
doesn't need to, since he "works" out of the house (sure).

I've already had some words with him about this, but it doesn't seem to sink
in. Then Monday morning, when I left the house, my back yard was strewn with
newspapers and water cartons. So I just gathered everything up, went next door
and stuffed the whole lot in his front door. The few more pieces I picked up I
stuffed on his vehicle. He rents the house, and obviously doesn't give a hoot
about it's overall appearance, so I figured if I crammed some newspapers in
his vehicle, that might hit home. The next time, I might cram them in spots
that will take him at least as long as it took me to run around and pick
everything up, to remove them.

Well, I really hated living alone last night when I got home after a
hellish drive through the snow and discovered my furnace had decided
not to work. No heat, no hot water. Plenty of oil - in fact, I had just
had more delivered that day. I pressed the reset button and ran, just
in case it exploded. (Hey, you never know.) It attempted to run for
about 40 seconds and shut off. Read all the literature, no help there.
Called the oil company. Got the answering service - they'd call me back.

Argh. Then I remembered I'd bought a book about a year or two ago, one
of those huge "How To Fix Everything" books, so I got it out and turned
to the "oil burner" pages. Went through all the "troubleshooting"
bits, and decided perhaps there was air in the oil line and I needed to
bleed it, or something like that.

I followed the instructions as closely as I could (I really could use a
nice tool box, but hey) and apart from having foamy oil spurt out at me
at 100 miles an hour, which caused me to scream and hop up and down
while I attempted to catch it in a jar, I did manage to fix it and was
rewarded with heat and a hot shower this morning.

That book is a lifesaver, really.

Like laying on your back looking at the clouds and watching them

I, too, feel sentiment lessen with every move.

Figuring the move to my present home is going to be my last move,
it made it even easier to throw out the things that I figured I
would someday decorate some place with. Much of that stuff just
didn't "go" with mud brown panelling, crap colored rugs, and the
darkness my home has. But I expect I won't be anywhere else, so
    everything got sold or discarded.

Hopefully I'll be able to get over on Saturday to help you Kathleen!

    Hi,

I may take you up on that when I have to move the washer and dryer and
refrigerator... I'm **hopefully** going to be selling these items to
    the next tenant...

    thanks...

Ohhh, you people are making me soooo DEPRESSED! Maybe we'd all feel
better if we turned this into a string of horse puns.

Or...maybe Kathleen could move from her apartment into an LKG cubicle
(they do have showers in LKG, don't they?) taking over Jan's job, Jan
could take over Kathleen's job so she wouldn't have to commute so far,
and someone could ship cj's crap colored rug up to TRO, solving another
    two problems.

I wanna go home NOW! And I don't wanna cook tonight, or help with
homework, or log in and do DEC work, or worry about where to live after
August, or pay bills, or take calls from people who want to sell me
stuff or from AT&T who knows that I already use them

If your car is anything like mine, it's a vacuum leak. Lift the
hood and listen for a whistling sound. If you can isolate it to a vacuum
hose, it's probably at a joint. You may be able to self-repair by
shortening the hose and re-connecting.

I think the Singles_Chat community should get together and buy
Kathleen's appliance from her. Then we can store them in a convenient
place and we'll have a rotating set of spare appliances that can be
swapped in after CJ visits your house. The old one's get repaired and go
back to the warehouse. We just have to make sure that CJ's visits are
spaced such that that there's time to repair the "spares" in between.

Katleen maybe your engine is lonely?? Just take a peek under the
    hood and say hi :-)
Mine used to do that under uphill acceleration.. In my case it
turned out to be a bad tank of gas causing too much pinging.. Good
luck timing couldn't be worse for you though...

Doug, I'm liking that! That made me laugh.

The funniest part, I'm supposed to help Kathleen pack tomorrow.
Perhaps I shouldn't go over until *after* the appliances are
    sold and gone :-).
