Waking up for the 2nd morning in a row withOUT a lot of back pain.

Seeing the moon, still out, with a ring out clouds around it, on my way in this
morning.  It was beautiful.

Working out every day this week!!!!  I think this is a first.

Getting my own copy of the Amesbury Sports Park info on my chair when I got back
from working out (thanks Bob!).

Having *long* hair that blows all over the place with the top down BUT being
able to put it in a pony tail so that it doesn't become a rats nest.

Having my hair permed so that it doesn't take me as long to get ready in the
morning.

	Having hair. :)

	So many friends are losing theirs. Mine still grows at
	1/2"-3/4" a month.

Actually, women screaming around Shawn seems quite normal to me,

"Toasted" pears and lettuce...

While in the middle of the hour-long phone call with Joyce last night I
thought I smelled something cooking but seeing as I hadn't started anything
and my cat can't cook I figured it was my imagination.  After getting of the
phone with Joyce I went downstairs and...

Yes something HAD been cooking.  When I got in I left the groceries on the
counter.  Turns out one of the (plastic) bags had hit the toast lever on my
toaster oven and was holding it down.  Two of the bags were up against it
so after the plastic nicely melted on the front of the toaster oven, the 
lettuce in one bag and the pears inthe other started to cook.

Well, thankfully I was in a better mood by this point and just cracked up,
and had to call Joyce back to tell her.  

Yes, it was quite the day!!!

Was baking a cake yesterday and was adding in the eggs...cracked the 4th one
(was making 2 cakes) and it was hard boiled!  I thought "what the ???  Hmmm,
did I hard boil eggs recently?  Nooooo, in fact, I *just* bought this dozen."
Cracked open another one and it was soft boiled (the first 3 had been fine).
Well, it finally occurred to me that the eggs had been in the bag with the
lettuce!  ;-)

Yes and no.  (ooo, wouldn't the mechanical folks have fun with that one - dry 
ice cooling??  Marlboro had fun experimenting with non-air cooling!  No, those 
turbolaser blowers move a h*ll of a lot of air - it's like a wind tunnel out in 
that lab.  Brrrrr.)

The camera was to check for hot spots on the module.  My chip is nice and cool
though, *of course*!!  ;-)  The dry ice is to cool the camera!

Outside the scene is an accident of 2 trucks - "Al's Small, Flightless Birds" 
and "Bob's Assorted Rodents".  The accident caused the truck trailers to open 
and the birds and rodents are out on the street while the two drivers are argu-
ing.

My cat *lives* in front of the windows!  I have an all glass (well almost) door
and she's always there at night waiting for me when I get home from work.  ;-)

new gloves, getting in 9 runs, knee apparently no worse than before, catching 
"The Firm" on TV

Sunday -
Four hour deep conversation about all sorts of stuff while hanging out in
pajamas and drinking coffee, going out for brunch, again bright blue sky with 
only a few clouds, warm (relatively speaking) temps, snow shoeing for the first 
time, being out on a lake with a view of Mt Washington and Mt Chocurra (sp?), 
not needing a coat or gloves, knee still apparently no worse than before, a
beautiful sunset on the ride home

Ahhhh, life is good!  What an awesome weekend!!

    Having the music from Phantom of the Opera, which I saw for the first
    time yesterday in SF, running around in my head today.......  
    gotta find the tape so I can listen to it during my commute.

    Talking about my roomate Kevin reminded me of this. 
    
    He got a new kitten about a month or so ago. Cutest little monster from
    hell you have ever seen. He was really *really* timid at first and was
    very likely hurt/abused by his previous owner. Well we (mostly Kev)
    hugged and loved the thing back to happiness. He isn't timid anymore
    lemme tell ya!!!! Kev has all these little stuffed animals on his
    waterbed headboard. When the cat wants attention now he jumps on the
    headboard and -swats- them off onto Kevin's head till he wakes up and
    then the cat jumps on him and meow right in his face.
    
    What is almost as funny is hearing Kev relate this to me during morning
    coffee, grouchy looks and all while he is petting the kitten. I gotta
    tell ya, I know I am not describing this well, but it's the
    cutest/funniest thing! That and listening to Kev muttering about how
    the cat is getting declawed asap while he patches yet another hole on
    his waterbed... snicker...

    Having my oldest daughter visit for the weekend-- 
    Let's see-- that's a tattoo, 3 earings, an eyebrow
    ring, and now... jet-black hair-(she's a natural blond)-

    I had a cat (17 pounder) that would leap off the headboard, land 
    on the waterbed, grip those claws in nice and tight, 
    and ride out the waves..  (-;  Now its funny, then, well... (-;
    
    
    

    This cat has long claws.. grin... when he is in your lap and decides
    something in another room needs his immediate attention and he launches
    himself from your lap through the door, he sometimes draws blood!
    
    Needless to say.... getting him declawed is a top priority. 
    
    As for the waterbed... the water doesn't gush out or anything, but the
    little leaks eventually get very noticeable when he finds another
    waterstain here or there.

    No cat can compare to a cute little bunny that you are holding up to
    your chest who decides he want to get down NOW!. Did you ever see a 
    flying bunny...? I probably still have scars... 

�    Needless to say.... getting him declawed is a top priority. 
    
    Might want to explore other options...  as I understand it,
    declawing is a very inhumane procedure...

    Unfortunately, my fiancee Suzanne is moving in in a few months and her
    cats are declawed from a previous owner. It would be better for all if
    the little ball of kitty psychosis was on even groud. AT least, thats
    what I'm told, in the end, I'll leave it to Kev and Suzanne to fight it
    out with their cats! <evil grin> All I can do is buy popcorn and hope
    for the best. 
    
    But I do agree, declawing a cat isn't very pleasant ESPECIALLY if it's
    an outside cat, not to mention the pain to the poor little bugger.

         The double take my 4 year old niece gave when whe walked by and
    realized I had a cat sleeping on my shoulder. Guess at first she
    thought I was wearing a caramel yellow scarf. 
    
         Used to date a woman who didn't keep a clean kitty box. She came
    home from a long weekend to find one of her furfaces had pooped in her
    best bra. She was not amused me.. Well I figure the poor cat was trying

    I was in Fitchburg on Friday to get to Fitchburg Sentinel, coming 
    down South Street.  I didn't even want to try that street and so diverted 
    to Pine, but still was scared to death.  You're right.  They don't plow 
    Fitchburg and it's the second hilliest(sp?) City in the U.S.

    Ah, but the Swamp Thing is better then a mutant. Swampie is an Earth
    Elemental and while he is presented as a male figure, he could easily
    be either, both, or none. Actually as his series ended, he remained
    mostly an Earth Elemental, but total control of all the elements
    (Earth, Air, Fire, and Water) plus all of space and all of time was his
    jurisdiction. Pretty powerful. More then just any old mutant, :-)

    - getting to my Jeep tonight and seeing the dome light has been on for

Getting a phone call yesterday from my best friend who moved to CT 2 years ago
and who was gonna be up in the area today.  She came by this morning for
coffee.  We had a great visit!  Wish she was closer!

        My oldest after having such a good time skiing, shopping, and
    eating out.... Gave me a hug and big thanks while we were in a store!!

    Dropped the kids off yesterday and my ex's boyfriend and I started
    chatting.. He had a pair of tiny sunglasses on and has shaved his 
    beard off. Was belly laughing between words as I tried to make a hasty
    exit... Why?? He looked so much like Bernie from Weekend at Bernie's.
    All I could think of was jeez does this guy keep his toupe on the same
    way as in the movie?? Giggle. I'm still chuckling about it. Naw he'd

    Working from 7 am to 7 am last Thursday and having an unexpected 3 day
    weekend. And THEN finding out our efforts bore fruit. The client was so
    happy with the results we achieved he intends to not only buy one of
    our bigger machines, but also take the results of his test (we
    clobbered, and I mean clobbered the incumbent HP) to the user group of
    the software he tested on the 4100, many of whom have the same
    performance nightmares our solution can solve.
    
    And then coming back, starting up Notes and finding over 100 new
    entries. Just getting through this shot 3 coffees to hell :-).

    Way back when....and it was long ago.. when I worked in lived
    in Billerica, I used to walk to work every day.  It would take
    me exactly one hour and ten minutes.   I walk fast as heck, but
    could never shave that ten minutes off.
    
    But I loved it!  Especially the walk home.  It was a nice 
    transition period to get my business day worked out in my head
    and be relaxed when I got home.
    
    The downside was...you can't believe how much harassment I got
    in the morning from the men.  From beeping, which you could tolerate,
    to stopping and offering rides, to coming on the opposite side of the
    road to make lewd comments, to a building I used to pass where a bunch
    would hang out the window (some kind of metal shop) and yell all kinds
    of stuff.  (made me wonder where the heck their boss was every day).
    
    But a walkman eventually took care of most of those problems.
    
    I envy you!  I can barely drive to work in an hour these days.

    Nope, I'm taking two classes -- Designing and Building Websites and
    Basic HTML.....  First one is 3 days at TAY and the second is one day
    at ZKO.  
    
    Although I'll be flying in on Saturday, March 15th, I've already made
    plans to meet old friends over the weekend, so there's no way I can
    'crash' your St. Pat's party.....  But lunch or dinner during the week
    is definitely doable.  It's been a long time since I lived back there
    (from 1979-1983) or since I've visited, so some specific directions
    will be required, but I doubt I'd get lost easily.....

    I nearly got in trouble once for "harassing" a young lady.  I had to
    explain to my town's police chief, as he drove by in his cruiser, why I
    was driving slowly and following this girl down the country road. 
    Another driver had reported me.

	A while back, my three-year-old nephew DJ had been promised that he
could "bizzet" Auntie in the near future.

	One day, when my BIL and DJ drove my sister to work, DJ announced that
he and daddy were going on a road trip to bizzet Auntie. (Auntie lives over
an hour away and Uncle Doug is safely 2 hours away.)   A great deal of wailing
ensued when it was explained that he and dayy weren't going.

    The notes about kids....  when my eldest godson was about 7, he
    provided one of the best laughs ever:
    
    He moved to England at age 4 and went to a British school for his first 
    1.5 years, then they moved back to the States and settled in Chelmsford.  
    His first couple of days of class in Chelmsford, he nearly got thrown
    out -- kept asking his teacher for rubbers!   (That's erasers as far as
    he was concerned)  According to my girlfriend, it was a really
    interesting call she took from his teacher regarding his request!
    
    It still brings a smile when I think about it, and he's now a graduate
    student in Chicago!  

    
    	Round trip to Logan for my mini-vacation will cost only $34 - now
    that made me smile!

       My grandson was pretty funny yesterday, of course he always makes

        He's says to me. "I felt like a dork in School because I fell."
    I said. "Oh that's too bad, how did you fall?" He said. "I looked
    at the new girl and I just fell for her! She's so beautiful! My 
    eyes even fell!" I had to smile (actually laugh) at that one. He's
    6 years old, will be 7 this coming april.
    
       Then I ask him what a 'dork' was. He says. "Me when I'm falling

    I'm moving out of my apartment in May and I will have to give up my
    cats (the family that I will be rooming with has cat allergies).  
    I hope in a year to be back in a place where I can have them
    with me again.  I was really unhappy about giving them up.  A very dear
    and wonderful friend has offered to take them and give them a home
    until I can take them back.  I will get to see them often also.

    Spending last night at a Metallica concert with my son. Great to see
    him so excited!! As he gets older, it's more difficult getting him to
    spend time with me rather than his collection of friends. We had a ball
    and need to do it more often.
    
    It was an awesome concert, I enjoyed it as well.  Think I
    should be worried...enjoying heavy metal at my age???!!  : - )

    Having my trip to Massachusetts be just a week from tomorrow away! 
    Now, all of you just have to think good thoughts about the weather -- I
    hate driving rental cars in the snow and sleet :-)

Stopping to get my bagel on the way in this morning and there being a pair of
ducks waddling around the parking lot.  What a sight!  There was a car with 2
dogs in it - the dogs were going nuts!  *Definitely* put a smile on my face.

AND....making plans to get together with a good friend.  We actually see each
other once a week or so but not on a social basis.  This will be strictly a 
night out for the girls!  ;-)

There *finally* was a fan in the PKO fitness room this morning!!!!  The venti=
lation in there has never been adequate but this week it seems it's been worse
than normal.  Even with the fan it was still hot in there, but it helped a lot
(certainly enough to make me smile).  ;-)

I have a new ceiling fan in my kitchen, dependable heat and a working garbage 
disposal!!!!  Yeah!  An electrician friend of mine came over Sat. and installed
the fan for me.  We also tried to figure out what was wrong with my furnace but
ended up calling Colonial Gas to have them take a look.  Course in the mean
time the furnace decided to stop working at all so I spent a very cold Sat. at
my house waiting for the gas guy to get there.  Put the call in at 9:30 a.m., 
they finally got there around 7 p.m.  Turns out the fan speed was screwed up,
the brand new thermostat I put in was screwed up and a sensor that detects the
pilot light and allows the gas to come on was broken.  Yikes!  And it's *only*
3 years old!!!  ;-(  So, the $130 later and with my original thermostat I now
have heat!!!  And then last night I finally figured out how to unjam my dispos-
al.

Now, if I could only get my office moved (all the facility guys are out dealing
with the snow!), I'll be all set.  Least I can log on out in the lab!

    	Its Tuesday - no snow - yet - and I'm heading to AZ in 2 days -

    This past weekend, I finally got my hands on some slides I've
    been waiting for since I was in high school.  They are all color
    slides of my brothers and sisters as we were growing up.  This
    person was close to my family and would occasionally have some
    of the slides put to a print or two, but mostly we'd just use
    his viewer and look at them.
    
    Most of the pictures we have from my parents are the old black
    and white.  These slides are good color, taken with what was
    probably a great camera in those times, by someone who was very
    good with a camera.   
    
    I am so thrilled.  It's like getting a whole chunk of my childhood
    back again.  It may not seem like much, but I've wanted these so
    very long and waited so long.  Most especially, this past year
    though.  And now I've got them!
    
    He also had a bunch of slides of some of his travels (mostly 
    Hawaii) from the 1940's.  It's like looking at shots from a very
    old travel magazine or National Geographic.   He was in the....
    memory isn't working great here...some sort of Naval unit?  The
    Seabees???? or something.  I don't know, I've buried a lot of
    the information, but something about that sounds right..the CeeBee's
    or whatever..  Truly beautiful pictures.  Not sure what I'm going
    to do with those.  
    
    But the others, I'm having prints made from just about all of them,
    putting together a great album, then locking those slides up in a
    fireproof box.

    	I was in Seattle all last week. Although somewhat cool, it seemed
    very Spring-like with flowers starting to bloom, etc.. I started
    getting into a Spring mindset...until I got back to snow and more snow!

	SeaBee's. They are the naval construction corps. In WWII, they
	built runways and bunkers and stuff. It was unbelievable what
	they could do in a jungle. (having been to Guam and seen some
	of their handywork)

	Another thing you might want to do at some point is get those
	slides scanned and put on floppy or CD. Then you could add them
	to a web page. Oh, don't say "it'll never happen". I suspect that
	by the time your little one is 8, she'll be able to build a cool
	website. It'll probably be a school project by then. :)

    I got a bit lost there.  You mean have them (Kinkos or whatever)
    scan the slides to do my prints?  Instead of a going to a photo
    shop?   I'm confused (but then, that's easy).

    What I'd like to do is get my hands on (borrow, preferably) a
    good viewer or projector.  When I can, I'll review all the other
    slides that are from his past (as opposed to my family).  If I
    think there may be something there you guys would like to see, 
    I'll let you know.  The few I've pulled out seem to all be in
    Hawaii, mostly.  Some truly beautiful pictures.  He did have an
    "eye", that's for sure.
    
    I tell you, though, the box they come in is something else!  It's
    very old, wooden, with an Eastman Kodak plate on it calling it a
    Kodaslide Sequence File.  It has a double hinged cover and metal
    push button to open. The inside is slotted for the slides.  Very 
    nice little thing.  I plan on transferring all the family photos
    into that box, or as many as will fit.

	Kinkos and other places have slide scanners.  You pop the 
	slide into this gizmo and it transfers the image to a PC so 
	you can put it on a floppy or CDROM.  You can then use that 
	image on a web page. It's a good way to archive pictures.
	I'm planning to purchase a flatbed scanner to scan in old
	photos for my genealogy stuff that I keep putting off. :)

	Someone mentioned to me last week that Kinko's did this, but
	I have no positive verification. If I hear of anyplace local,
	I'll let you know. It'll probably won't be super cheap. Another
	option for the time being is to see if you can get them transfered
	to video tape. The quality isn't nearly as good, but you'd at 
	least have something handy.

	As far as a slide projector, I don't have one. You might be
	able to sign one out from your site AV folks for a weekend, just to
	go thru what you have.

            My sister in law called last night.She's got 3 girls the 
    youngest is 4... She called to tell me that her youngests councilor 
    had asked who uncle Bob was. My sil asked oh he's just family and 
    little Julieanne likes to call and chat with him. The councilor 
    showed her a picture Julieanne had drawn on my cats and I... Followed 
    by Julieanne says that her uncle Bob is married to his cats... other 
    than that he lives alone... Kids that age can be so funny :-)
    Escpecially Julieanne.. She's at the age where she talks so fast you
    can only undertsand every 4th or 5th word. So you need to really

    Personally I think the finest way to know how much of a friend you
    really were and how much you really did respect a person you've dated
    is reflected in how they deal with/speak of you when the romantic
    relationship ends. I don't really know why... but most of my
    relationships began as friends and ended as friends many of whom I
    still talk to often. 
    
    I've had the benefit of being with some damn special people and the
    fact that they still give a damn about me makes me feel wonderful
    inside.

          James that's pretty cool! I haven't been as lucky.. Several of
    the women I've dated over the last 3 years would make terrific friends.
    It's a transition I or they have never been able to accomplish. I tried
    it once last year and it ended up ruining a still young relationship.
    I was too naive to know where to draw the line between friend and just 
    plain calling on me too much about lifes problems. If you can keep a
    good balance then good for you. One can never have too many friends.

    daughter sings to him at the train station as she leaves 
    to go to Siberia. 
    
    Truly touching, too, when he and his wife discover they

    For all of the Fiddler on the Roof fans, do you catch it last night on
    TNT.  It started I think around 6:00pm.  Though the movie was good,
    I definitely preferred the play.

AND, worked out on the lifecycle for the first time in like 6 weeks - since my

        My 3 year old niece yesterday in this beautiful Easter dress.. She

    get a big snowstorm starting later on today.. Ah New England gotta love

          Early spring snow's are poor mans fertilizer... Snow has a lotta
    nirogen in it. With the frost outa the ground much of that trapped
    nitrogen will get into the soil..

Seeing lots of daffodils and crocuses in bloom down in CT this weekend!  And
GREEN grass!  Being outside yesterday morning in short sleeves without a coat!
AND driving home yesterday with the sunroof open and the window down (course 
the traffic was another story ;-( ).

         Coming in from my run with my running partner and receiving
    comments from everyone we saw. They ranged from the you guys are nuts
    to way to go!! Coulda used a jacuzzi to warm the legs up though.. My
    lycra tights are old and my legs looked like lobsters

          Driving near the police station in Maynard this a.m. I noticed a
    large flock of pigeons. (oh noooo sigeon phit). It looked like they
    were practicing for the olympics. They were doing what appeared to be
    synchronized flying over the Asabet river.. It went on for several

    across-the-street neighbor with the snowblower and the front walk by
    hand (since the snowblower wouldn't make it up the walk with a flat) I
    think I had enough snow fun.  Although I could probably be persuaded to
    shovel in exchange for hot-tub time and a massage... ;-)

troubling.

    Heard on the news last night (while in Indiana) that New England had
    been dumped on by Mother Nature.  Seems to happen every time I leave
    town.  I chuckled and smiled.  My parents didn't understand.  Remember
    the storm last early December?
    
    Getting home and finding my driveway clear enough to drive into the
    garage.  My neighbor's great!  I owe him for many such favors.

          Sitting down to relax after a loong day last night.. Munching on 
    yummy sardines... Having my cats roll their eyes at my fish breath
    after I was doen with my treat.. Oh turnaround is fair play ;-)

I was just telling someone - SOMEday my picture will be in there.  Little did
I know!!!  This is SO cool!!!!!  I haven't even seen it yet.  She got hers in
the mail on Tues so mine should be there any day now!!  It's a picture of us
riding into P'town last year.  I don't even remember the picture being taken!
