10.30 | My intro | BRAT::BARROWS | | Mon Jan 27 1997 14:03 | 17 |
| Hi,
I've been reading this file since it's 'birth' and want to thank
everyone for his/her input. It's been very interesting as well as
helpful.
I'm 43 yrs old and divorced. I have no children of my own but have
raised 3 stepchildren.
I work in Finance in MKO -- soon to be ZKO.
and.... I'm looking for friends!

Marianne Houbre - 5'3", wpth (almost) 50 something, dark brown hair,
brown eyes.
work in SHR - been with DEC 10 years in May.
Love to dance, play pool, cards, etc. and just have fun. Everyone
should have a sense of humor.
"Why don't you come up and see me sometime" I would Love to make
new friends to have fun with. I am very young at heart.

Well, guess I should sign in...
Mike Murray - SW, 29, 6'2" @150lbs, brown on hazel.
I've been working for Digital Semiconductor, in Hudson, MA. for
seven years.
I have many interests, but my top four would be computers, Kenpo,
RPGs and live role-playing.
I tend to dislike sports, particularly the big four. I watch
little TV, but what I watch is mostly SF and I have successfully
filled my brain with useless movie quotes. To heck with
calculas, thermodynamics and organic chemistry!
My reason for noting here? I've been reading since this files'
inception and I'm looking forward to meeting people and
making new friends.
Thanks,
Mike.

10.34 | Steve DiPirro - I guess I should do this too... | STAR::DIPIRRO | | Thu Jan 30 1997 14:46 | 33 |
| Well, I'm sure you're all just DYING of curiosity about me. So what
the heck. I might as well put a note in here. I'm Steve DiPirro. I'm
going to turn 40 this year, and I'm damn depressed about it! I thought
that by acting really immature all these years, it would slow the onset
of middle age, but I was wrong. Now I'm even told I LOOK my age. Hey,
thanks!
I'm 5'7". So I walk around on my tippy toes a lot. I'm a
grotesquely overdeveloped and massively muscular 165 lbs., in my
dreams. I live and work in Nashua these days. I'm actually a pretty
senior-level engineering person in VMS development these days, now that
everyone else has left.
I'm probably best known in this company for my bizarre NOTEs file
entries and mailwatch messages. I was the one who turned boring
mailwatch messages into a new kind of "art" form about 10 years ago
with my first story about being abducted by aliens. These days,
everyone's getting abducted except me. I've been with the company 15
years now, and if you were paying attention, you might have seen a
picture of me in a recent Forefront magazine, sitting next to Jesse
Lipcon. And if you were REALLY paying attention, you can see how hard
I'm trying not to laugh since I'd had way too much to drink!
My first marriage lasted about 15 years and produced two great
kids. My boys are 10 and 12 and more like me all the time! Scary, huh?
I get along fine with my ex these days, and I get to see my kids a lot.
My ex and I separated in '94. The divorce went through in '95. I met a
woman through the SINGLES NOTEs file in '94 and proposed to her after
my divorce was final in '95. We were married in June of '96, and it's
going great and gets better all the time.
Since attached people are putting introductions in here, I thought
I'd add mine to the pile. I don't have a web page or picture of myself
for you to gaze at. So if you can picture Mel Gibson, a little shorter
and fatter and not as handsome, then you're still WAY off!
And you might have noticed that once I start rambling on and on,
boy, somebody stop me!

trying).

It's about time you introduced yourself, Mary. Long time, no
her, but glad you're still around.
BTW, just remember that MAXCIM is good, SAP is bad. At least,
that's the case when you happen to have 650 .FCF reports and
almost as many DATATRIEVE reports which will become useless as
soon as the proverbial switch is flipped.

Hi Shawn,
Yeah I'm still here. It has been a long time. I remember
all the *fun* we had writing most of those .FCF's!
Don't worry about MAXCIM me thinks it will be around a lot
longer than most SAP folks would hope.
Joyce,
I will stop by, I'm on the second floor. And make many trips
to the cafe!

Hello, I'm John Richardson.
I've been at DEC for 14 yrs now, starting out with Field
Service in the Mill. Currently, I'm currently in LKG with the
Americas' Network Operations Center.
I'm a couple weeks shy of 36. Divorced with two great children.
I currently live in the Worcester area. My interests vary greatly,
some things I'm better at than others. I'm open to most ideas and
activities (except maybe skydiving!). Hopefully I'll meet some of
you at one of these get togethers.

| Hi,
I'm Al Cadena. I work in HLO (Digital Semiconductor) in Alpha Product
Engineering. I've been with Digital 10 years (4 years in the systems
business in Phoenix and 6 years here in Hudson).
I'm 35, 5'6" 155 lbs, never been married, and live in Hudson, Ma.
I enjoy downhill skiing, mountain biking, travelling and cooking (mainly
Mexican food but rarely cook just for myself).
I started skiing 4 years ago and got hooked (got in 40 days at Killington
last year and hope for the same this year). This is my 3rd year in a
house at Killington and my 2nd year running one. I'm not a good skier
(compared to my friends) but I get down the hill and enjoy every second
of it even when I'm on the edge of control.
I'm usually up for anything and my tastes are eclectic to say the
least. Hopefully, I'll be able to make it to one of the get-togethers
to meet some of you and make new friends.
Adios,
Al

Hi All,
I've been read-only for long enough. Since I know a few of the active
participants in this conference, it's only fair that I 'fess up. You
think you know someone, and then you find out something totally
unexpected in here. And I'm not referring to myself either! ;-) Gee, I
hope I don't shock any of my friends by my being here.
I'm 37, single (and intend to stay this way), your typical computer
geek. I have more PCs than I have limbs. (and before you ask, I'm not
physically impaired in any way) Pretty sick humor, huh. I'm a
non-smoker/non-drinker. I'm mostly a hermit and prefer the company of a
few friends to that of a large, less intimate crowd. Bars and pool
halls are out for me. I'm a country boy at heart. Culture? Don't want
it, don't need it. My family traveled world-wide in my childhood,
that's when I lost all interest in being a tourist. I've developed a
hatred for flying, but I'll drive anywhere within reach, which includes
most of the continental U.S. I once drove to our Kanata (Ontario)
factory instead of flying. I'm very much into 4wd vehicles and will be
spending a week off-roading in Colorado this summer. I promise to tread
lightly!
Too many negatives, eh? Sorry about that.
Still with me? You really need to get a life! ;-) I'm a fine one to
talk...
I haven't been able to keep up with all of the chat here. I'll try
harder. I spend enough time keeping up with technical notesfiles.
Oops, my knurdy nature is showing through again.
Figured I'd drop in on occasion and maybe chat with some of old friends
again. Hi Ron... Bapb (Barb). Old friends from the good ol' VAX days.
Hope to meet some new people, too, especially those in AKO. Some of the
suggested outdoor activities look interesting to me (X-C skiing, white
water rafting). I like camping, but strictly snow camping. Haven't done
it in years. Haven't encountered any other "sick-o's" I suppose. ;-)
Enough for now. You can learn more about me later if I haven't
hopelessly bored you all to death.
Cheers,
/Bill

Well, since I've written replies in here, I suppose it's about time
to introduce myself .....
I'm Patty Weier, 34 (yikes! When did THAT happen?!?!), tech support
engineer (Glorified system/lab manager (-:) in ZKO. I'm ~5'3",
~130lbs, and working my way down, brown hair, golden brown eyes,
Italian and English descent. I live in Nashua and have 3 sons, 3yr, 9yr
and almost-12yr. The two older ones are with their dad 1/2 the time, the
youngest is with me all the time.
I am newly single again (THANK GOD - Finally!), and am interested in
developing some new friendships. Not really ready for 'heavy romance'
right now, but time will change that (and is).
I love to write, read, check out new things (anything new to me is
wonderful!), if I have time, I enjoy cooking fancy meals, ceramics,
household projects, sewing and working on the car. But alas, the
children take up a good deal of my time (and that's fine with me). We
like to ski, and hopefully next year I can convince the youngest to
give the slopes a try. I love to bike ride and horse around with my
boys and just crank the stereo and get goofy with them .... they keep
me young(er)!
This is a great place to come for a laugh - I feel like I know 1/2 of
you just from reading ... and Joyce, if you ever find yourself with
some energy you'd like to get rid of, you can dump some my way! It
definitely won't go to waste!! (-:

| Hi Everyone,
Since I have signed up for the White Water Trip in July and have been
really enjoying all of the "chat" I thought I would take the plung and
introduce myself. I will be making one of the "fun events" soon, but
sorry to say my schedule conflicted with the previous planned events.
In my organization, we call the people who are the sparks and bring
enjoyment to the group "Fun Police" and I think we should name Joyce
"Chief of the Fun Police"!
I am 15+ year Decie. When I entered the Mill so many years ago, I had
never touched a computer, word processor, etc. Now I have spent the
last 12 years in IS and have the old PTP program and Digital to thank.
I currently work for PSG Americas in OGO, supporting some real old
applications, but making the migration into the PC world. While I
enjoy my job, I look at it as a means to support my life outside of
DEC. I can relate to the note about supporting a travel agent,
maybe all of the years as a Navy Brat, has something to do with it.
Besides traveling, I try to nuture my creative side by going to the
theatre, various arts and crafts, and various home improvement
projects. I am 46 years old and proud of it. I am 5'2" and I am not
quite WPTH, but I am feeling really successful in the work I have been
doing to get there. I have brown eyes and auburn hair and a great
smile.
Look forward to meeting some of you soon.

Never married, no children. Kind of a shy guy when meeting new people,
but get better once I get to know them.
Thought I'd say hi to everyone !

| Hi, I'm one of those sometimes noters, literary voyeurs. It's been fun
reading the notes in here but often hard to relate to the places you
all seem to end up at. I'm up north working as an account manager out
of the Kanata facility. I travel quite a bit but rarely to Mass and
NH. Mostly get to Dallas, Raleigh, Toronto.
I'm 36 years old, been with Digital for coming on seven years, scary
thought! I'm single, resolved that I don't mind this state of being,
in fact, as I get older it's easier. This wasn't part of the master plan
but I'm improvising as I go along. I'm a pretty active person, love
volleyball and play competitively, well, as long as my bones last ;-)
I love to travel in spite of the fact I do so much of it with work.
I've travelled to Europe many times to tour and visit relatives. I've
also travelled all over North America. Missing locations of interest,
Australia and Asia.
It's nice to read the conversations and one day, hope of all hopes,
I'll get down your way and actually be able to join you all for a night
out.
'til then,
Rick

| After meeting many of you on Saturday night (what a time!) I can no
longer be silent:
software engineer in the PCBU in Acton
live in Framingham, originally from Pennsylvania
38 years old
divorced 1 year
mom to a 7 year old son and a 4 year old daughter.
I like hiking, skiing, tennis, the beach, theatre, all
sorts of family activities from picnics at the beach to playgrounds
and museums. My musical interests lately seem restricted to Suzuki
piano (my son is taking lessons) but I would like to expand on this.

10.54 | Just enjoying the time | STRATA::HUI | | Wed Mar 19 1997 11:18 | 21 |
| I have been reading this notesfile for the past couple of weeks and I figure
it's time for me to sign in. Sound like I missed a great party last weekend. I
guess I will have to be more sociable.
My name is David Hui, <-Remind me of "Tell the Truth" Game show:-)
I am a MFG Process Engineer in HLO slapping together those Alpha's and
StrongARM's chips. I commute from the lovely city of Nashua, Cow Hampshire and
also work part time at a bike and ski shop in Salem, NH.
I'm 34 going on 35 this month and separated for the past 18 months without any
kids or pets. Just started riding a motorcycle after the break up. Always
wanted to and finally got to. I've been working at Digital for 9 years.
I am very very active. From skiing -> biking -> Karate -> Windsurfing -> etc...
Too much to do in such a short life time. I also like to relax to a movie,
check out a museum and seals at the aquarium. That is what I get for attending
a Liberal Arts college. I am just really having fun and enjoying life right
now.

I figured since I read...I would add (with a little prompting from my
good friend Deane).
I live in central Mass and work in Littleton. (Most of you should be
able to tell where I work from the node name....)
I'm 26 years old, 5'4" and about 115 lbs. I like to keep in some
sort of shape.... :) I love the warm weather and being outside in it.
I have never been married, have no children. (just a really adorable
godson!!!!!!)
Well... now that I have gotten over the initial fear of adding
myself... I must be off.
Hello to everyone!
