2.3 | Possible short hangs in the near future... | WAYLAY::GORDON | Resident Lightning Designer | Thu Jan 30 1997 11:25 | 10 |
| My "personal cluster" (now 3 nodes) will be going through a bit of
reconfiguration in the near future, possibly today. WAYLAY will remain up
through it, but because of the way the cluster is set up, WAYLAY may hang
for short periods of time.
The management regrets any inconvenience this might cause, but I do
have a real job... ;-)

2.4 | system work | WRKSYS::HARRY | | Thu Jan 30 1997 16:38 | 7 |
| Hi Doug,
I work for Workstation engineering in PKO. If you ever
have some hardware needs I may be able to help with hardware,
no promises though.

patient -- It's a little slow to reboot.

2.10 | Unexpected downtime | WAYLAY::GORDON | Resident Lightning Designer | Mon Mar 17 1997 09:33 | 7 |
| WAYLAY halted for no reason I could determine this morning.
It actually looked like someone was looking for me an hit ^P at the
keyboard, but I really can't tell. In any event, we've rebooted
and I'm not expecting any more trouble.

2.11 | Notes on conference BACKUP and dangling links | WAYLAY::GORDON | Resident Lightning Designer | Fri Mar 28 1997 12:03 | 13 |
| In order to make sure this conference gets backed up on a semi-
regular basis, I kick off all the connections and compress the conference so
that when my automated backup job runs at midnight, it picks up the older
version.
I did this last night around 7:30 and had to kick off a lot of folks,
most of whom I suspect were just "dangling links." If you could remember to
close the conference at the end of the day, we might get better backup
coverage.

2.13 | Probably storm-induced somehow... | WAYLAY::GORDON | Resident Lightning Designer | Tue Apr 01 1997 15:17 | 6 |
| For some reason last night, the offices on the 4th floor were
unreachable from most of the rest of the world. The power stayed up,
but my guess is we lost a router somewhere. In any event, we seem to
be back so it shouldn't remain this quiet...

2.15 | I'm running out of power in my cube... | WAYLAY::GORDON | Resident Lightning Designer | Thu Apr 10 1997 18:55 | 29 |
| My personal cluster has expanded to 4 nodes:
View of Cluster from system ID 19872 node: WAYLAY
10-APR-1997 17:49:01
SYSTEMS MEMBERS
NODE HW_TYPE SOFTWARE STATUS
WAYLAY VAXstation 4000-60 VMS V7.1 MEMBER
DOUGG DEC 3000 Model 400 VMS V7.1 MEMBER
WIMRAM AlphaStation 255/300 VMS V7.1 MEMBER
ANYWAY DEC 2000 Model 300 VMS V7.1 MEMBER
Of course, those of you in the know will note that the Jensen will
be dragging the rest of the cluster down (Actually, it's probably a bit
faster than WAYLAY but Alphas don't run as well on 32 meg.)
The major reason to post this note is to gloat - err, no, really,
it's to say that in the near future DOUGG and ANYWAY will be upgrading to
mysterious future versions of the OS so I can crash them with my nefarious
project. This may cause "hiccups" while accessing the conference. Please
be patient.

2.17 | | WAYLAY::GORDON | Resident Lightning Designer | Wed Apr 16 1997 17:04 | 3 |
| Sorry for the unxepected downtime. I got a little overenthusiatic
typing REBOOT in a window before I noticed that the WAYLAY window had focus
instead of the DOUGG window I thought I was using...

2.18 | | WAYLAY::GORDON | Resident Lightning Designer | Wed Apr 23 1997 16:13 | 6 |
| Unplanned reboot this afternoon - I moved hardware around in my
office and it looks like WAYLAY didn't like being moved. I had a whole
bunch of stuck network processes and any attempt to touch the user disk
just hung.
