106.0. "Strange behaviour with RemoteDrawers..." by VNABRW::EHRLICH_K (Never met a Lady like her before!) Fri Jan 24 1997 09:16

Hi,

we found a very strange behaviour within the ALL-IN-1 MAPI Driver and
we think that the problem has something to do with RemoteDrawers:

Message Store is on a ALL-IN-1 V3.2 system. There we have a Remote-
drawer from a V3.1 system.

Now clicking on this drawer we'll get only 54 objects instead of
367.

We then played around a while:

1) Using the good old VT and/or using TeamLinks -> everything's pretty fine.
   All 367 docs are visible,

2) Using this V3.1 system as Message Store directly everything's pretty fine.
   All 367 docs are visible,

3) The version of ALL-IN-1 doesn't matter. It doesn't depend on
   V3.1 -> V3.1, V3.2 -> V3.1 and V3.2 -> V3.2

4) BUT: It seems there's a Problem with the amount of mails in this
drawer. We have a folder containing 294 documents. But if there
are mails then the TOTAL amount of all objects is between 54 and 58 !!!

Really a funny situation. Any ideas what causes this? Anything that we
can do to avoid this ???

MTIA for your kind support,

Cheers
Charly

    Hi,

We tried to reproduce this problem in house connecting between two V3.2
systems & got no problem. Did you really get the problem here?

I then connected to a remote V3.1 drawer and immediately got the error.
Behind the scenes we are call the FCS to get 60 documents at a time and
if it returns less then we consider that there are no more to get. This
logic is good for a V3.2 system but not for a remote V3.1. So it is our
bug. I can't think of any easy workround.

    Hi Stuart,

many thanks for your fast response here. Yes, you're right it's
a problem with remote V3.1 drawer. That's what I did check some minutes
    ago on my internal system.

Oh dear, this doesn't sound good, honestly. Will you note this bug
or have I to IPMT this.

At CoV 'drawer-sharing' is extremly heavily used.

    Cheers
