| The folders will (with Outlook) be read-only. No - they shouldn't be,
and we hope to fix this in the next release.
How did the demo go?

105.16 | Still a problem. | 30753::WIEGLEB | Voracious schools of lottery girls | Tue Feb 25 1997 22:32 | 9 |
| I am running the Outlook client shipped with the Exchange RC1 kit and
I'm seeing the strikethrough font as well. Someone else earlier
mentioned that they were not seeing this problem in the released
version of Outlook, so I was somewhat surprised as I believe my version
is the released version.
Any word on a date for a patch for this?

Hi,
Yes this is a problem with the released version of Outlook with the
MAPI Driver. It is planned to be fixed in the next release of the MAPI
Driver.
It's turning out to be quite a tricky fix. The strike-through problem
turned out to be that we weren't setting an Expiry time on the message.
Outlook took the case on Expiry time to mean that the message had
expired. So we set an Expiry time - now they all displayed in a red
colour! This turned out to be that we weren't setting a Reply time.
And then fixing that it now shows the messages with the unread message
ICON instead of the read message ICON (Outlook has some new ICONs) and
not showing the attachment ICON. That's where we are at the moment.
Cheers

105.18 | Sounds like Microsoft bugs to me | 30753::WIEGLEB | Voracious schools of lottery girls | Wed Feb 26 1997 21:03 | 15 |
| From a messaging standpoint, you shouldn't be setting an Expiry time
on a message unless the originator requested one. However, that
doesn't mean, of course that Microsoft doesn't require one. :^)
If Outlook is requiring an Expiry time, I would say that the Microsoft
code is broken. If the originator didn't request a message Expiry time,
there should not even be a tag or data element for it in the message,
much less a value. (At least that's how things work in X.400.)
Same rules should apply for Requested Reply time. Making up values for
optional data elements is asking for trouble.
Thanks,
- Dave
