| Shaun isn't that useful. I have the misfortune to see him in Dublin
occasionally, but, having let me down yet again, he's had the decency
to keep out of my way for a while.
He is, IMO, a complete waste of space.

"Waste of spec".....Yes i agree with that, but he could be entertaining
too. But then I didn't have the misfortune to be on the receiving end
of his "wit".
I just think that this is a funny time of year. Winter lingers and
spring is round the corner, but not near enough to cheer people up.
It's a very big "low" after the last few weeks of Christmas parties
followed by Carnival. Everyone feels tired - well I do anyway.
I reckon things'll get livelier when we have the first warm day and
emerge from hibernation.

| I don't think things'll get livelier, I think we're seeing the middle
phase of a downward spiral of Notes in DEC (sorry, Digital, er,
digital, er, DIGITAL). People have left in droves, and many
remaining/coming in afresh, don't know what notes is. Worse, VMS seems
to be being dumped at a rate of knots, and in the absence of a decent
replacement, notes will die off. Anyway, I predict a severe shortage
of host nodes before much longer.

| I'm still here in windy Ayr. Mind you I have only ever been an
occasional noter. I think Laurie is right. To my mind Notes pretty
much resides in the retirement home for communication mediums. With
the Internet and the WWW readily available the discussion forums and
information available from outside DEC make notes rather outdated.

What about the new medium that Alta-vista have produced, the forum
looks like it's notes with whistles and bells added.
Ian (in early ... unable to optimise the traffic out of London!
leave 10 mins early and arrive 30 mins early or 10
