The following question was just posted on CompuServe. It would be appreciated if someone could provide some insight and/or a pointer to someone who could confirm or add some additional light to this issue: "I've got an Enorex system with the new Digital PC164 system board. I can barely hear the speaker when it beeps. Enorex says that this is normal and that there is nothing that I can do about it. I can't believe that Digital would design a speaker connection that can't be heard!?" TIA, / Kerry

121.1 | Ask Over In DECHIPS | XDELTA::HOFFMAN | Steve, OpenVMS Engineering | Mon Jun 02 1997 10:04 | 10 |
This is best asked in RICKS::DECHIPS notes conference -- that is where the PC164 board designers tend to lurk. Where I this customer, I would determine if this is a volume problem, or if this was an Enorex enclosure problem. And I'd determine if a third-party audio amplifier could be configured. We have had some poor audio designs -- the VAXstation 4000-60 had the speaker aimed at the desk, and it was rather difficult to hear. |
