    	Hi all,
    	
    
        Customer query, he wants to compare a VAX400-500 with a
        Alphaserver 4100-5/400 in Vups, Specint or whatever is used
        to compare systems. The Alphaserver and VAX are running the latest
        versions of VMS.

	It is difficult to compare apples to apples on older system vs newer systems. Newer systems usually run the latest & greatest benchmarks and rarely if ever are these run on the older systems. We can quote you all sorts of performance numbers on each system but finding a common benchmark is almost inpossible. I suspect that this customer has a specific application or application mix and thus should ask the application vendor how their application benchmarks on these 2 systems. Or you could sell the customer some consultancy to take actual system data and see how it may scale when moved to Alpha. Jilly
