96.0. "kit for DEC3000 AXP MUP 01 OpenVMS AXP" by TPOVC::MIKECHANG () Tue May 06 1997 06:21

We has many customers who use DEC3000/400 with OpenVMS AXP V1.5 and could
not upgrade to V6.1 due to some reason. Now we try to find DEC3000 AXP MUP
01 OpenVMS AXP for SCSI problem,We could not find the patch from TIMA TOOLS
and OpenVMS AXP V6.1 Binary CD. Anyone could tell me the pointer to get the
patch kit. any input will be very appreciated. Thanks.

96.1IPMT: I'd expect to upgrade, or to pay for ECO...XDELTA::HOFFMANSteve, OpenVMS EngineeringTue May 06 1997 10:4822
If the patch is not available, then please log an IPMT.

Given that OpenVMS product management has explicitly told engineering
that all customers have been told to upgrade from all OpenVMS Alpha
versions prior to V6.1 to at least V6.1 and has told engineering that
all support for these particular older releases has been removed, I
would expect that the customers will need to pay for the backport of
the ECO, or will need to upgrade.

There are also no 10K ECO kits available (see VMSNOTES 238.*), and
I would view it as rather unlikely that there will be any Year-2000
ECO kits for any OpenVMS Alpha releases prior to V6.1. Other ECO
kits are also unlikely to be back-ported to this release.

Be aware that OpenVMS engineering completely rebuilt the internal
software build environment for OpenVMS Alpha for the V6.1 release
as part of the "native build" work. Building ECO kits for releases
prior to V6.1 -- back when we were using OpenVMS VAX cross-builds
and cross-tools to build OpenVMS Alpha -- will be "interesting".

Note: VAXAXP::VMSNOTES is the OpenVMS notes conference.
