Hello: An Alphaserver 1000A 5/400 boots after powerup from the CD instead from the system disk. The envar BOOTDEF_DEV= DKA0 (system disk). In brackets if i put the BOOT command the system boots ok from DKA0:. I think the problem is that the parameter: RESET_BOOT_ARG0=2 R DKA400 I tried to set this parameter to 2 r DKA0 but it's protected. I've passed the firmware update CD V3.8 with the file V4.7 for the chip EV5; the problem persist. Can anyone help me in know this variable and how to change it? Anyone think that the problem could be in other way? Thanks in advance for your help. Cristbal Ponce de Len (Barcelona,Spain) (IB004::PONCE)

looks like you will need to set >>>set boot_reset ON then boot system up and it will rewrite reset_boot_arg0 to good "dka0" value then you can reset >>>set boot_reset OFF if you wish. jim hutmacher mvhs colorado csc 800-354-9000 ext 25561 from the asrv1000 mikasa notes file WRKSYS::MIKASA note 811.* also 842.* Boot reset code was added to the 1000A SRM firmware in V4.7. It works correctly on the 4/nnn but not on the 5/nnn. The boot_reset evs were set at some point to boot from dka0. Type "show reset_boot_arg0" at the >>> prompt. You should see the offending dka0 boot string. Set boot_reset on and then boot dkb0. The reset_boot_arg0 will save the dkb0 boot string. You can then turn off boot_reset. Auto_action set to boot should work correctly now. This is all fixed in the next release of V4.8 SRM console code | |||||
