676.0. "Subtle change in BACKUP and ACL on 6.2?" by UTRTSC::DORLAND (The Wizard of Odz2) Tue Jun 03 1997 08:44
Hello,
I know that there are changes in BACKUP behaviour as of VMS 6.2
with respect to ACL propagation.
The procedure below shows this:
$ CREATE X.X
$ CREATE Y.Y
$ SET FILE/ACL=(ID=SYSTEM,ACCESS=READ) X.X
$! Here goes...
$ BACUP Y.Y X.X/NEW
On 6.1 the original ACL is inherited for X.X;2 , on 6.2 not.
Is this intended behaviour? In other words , is the 6.1 behaviour
to be considered as a bug?
Thanks in advance,
Ton Dorland

There are many discussions of the BACKUP ACL processing, please try
a COMET or AltaVista Notes search.
