665.1 | These Folks *Need* to Upgrade | XDELTA::HOFFMAN | Steve, OpenVMS Engineering | Mon Jun 02 1997 10:58 | 6 |

We do not support V1.5 -- all support was withdrawn quite some time
ago, and all customers were told to upgrade. If the customer wishes
to contract for the purchase a custom fix for V1.5, they should contract
for this with customer support and OpenVMS engineering -- developing ECOs
for releases prior to V6.1 is rather more difficult.

What's an "AP reason"?

"application". We're apparently not the only ones with a corner on
the market for cryptic abbreviations. :-)
[The customer has (or believes s/he has) an application that will
operate on V1.5 that will not operate on V6.1. I'd be interested
in trying this out -- with rather few exceptions, I'd expect most
V1.5 applications would continue to operate on V6.1.]

I'm amazed that we have "many" customers with applications that
work on V1.5 only. I can imagine one or two that compiled their
sources early and lost them.
More than that boggles the mind.
re: .0
Perhaps you can learn the details of the customers' "restrictions"?
