642.0. "Audit and VMS 6.2" by SAWA::KULISZEWSKI (Grzegorz KULISZEWSKI @RPW) Mon May 26 1997 05:34

Hello,

I have a problem with Audit server in AlphaVMS 6.2.

Description:

I was testing an account with a "audit" flag set.
When user executes an *.exe file which is not opened all time
the account is locked, the process goes into the RWPAG state and the executed
image becomes locked.

This problem does not occure on VAXVMS 6.2 and AlphaVMS 7.1.
I have repeated it on several machines (customer has about 80 Alpha Servers
from AS8400 to AS400) with different set of software.

Auditing the deaccess class causes the problem to occur.

Best regards,

Grzegorz

Er, I can reproduce this here too.

    Have you checked STARS?

If you can't find it as a known problem then escalate e.g. IPMT.

If anyone knows how to get out of this, I've got a wedged process. )-:

This is a rather distasteful abbreviation of one of Digital's products.

    Thank You for a hint

I have checked STARS and found a patch ALPSYS04_062 which fixes the
    problem

Oh, good, can you forward me the STARS article? Corporate security
procedures have wiped out my account from which I had access (the last
six months have been too trouble-free it seems) and I don't know how
long before I can get it back.

I mailed the ECO_SUMMARY article on this patch. Whether it documents this
problem or not, I didn't check. There have been a number of cases where
the ECO_SUMMARY articles didn't document ALL symptoms of a problem the
patch kit fixed.

    Thanks.

I was hoping the article explained a bit more about the problem so that
I might have a chance at unwedging the process and avoid a reboot.

Yes, I forgot about the web way in. (It seems to be down just now.)
I'ld still like my account back though. (-:
