Hello : We have the following escenario : An Alpha 4100 with OpenVMS V6.2 setting host to a Microvax 3300 running VMS 6.1 gets the following message at login : Failure on the back translate address request. However the login is sucessfull. With a PC running pathworks terminal emulator the messages does not show-up. Any idea? Roberto.

Re: .0 .0> Failure on the back translate address request. The MicroVAX 3300 is running DECnet-Plus and it's Naming Service can't find a NAME to match the AlphaServer 4100 node's ADDRESS.. Use DECNET_REGISTER on the MicroVAX to register/modify the name(s) and address(es) of the AlphaServer 4100 node. .0> With a PC running pathworks terminal emulator the messages does not .0> show-up. The 'PATHWORKS Terminal Emulator' is using some protocol other than CTERM (e.g. LAT or TELNET).. or the PCs have been correctly registered as DECnet nodes already. John.

Sometimes this is a CDI corruption. Try NCL> flush session control naming cache entry "*" Works for me Paul
