614.0. "Accounting information on Telnet host?" by PRIME8::VAUGHN (Mike Vaughn DTN 339-5325) Mon May 19 1997 16:47

Hello -

One of my customers is trying to track access to his VMS system from
remote Telnet hosts. Unfortunately, it appears that node tracking via
Accounting is for DECnet access only. For instance, the accounting record
generated by a Telnet access on my system provides (in part) the following
information:

Terminal name: TNA3: Processor time: 0 00:00:00.10
Remote node addr: 27283 Priority: 4
Remote node name: 16.67. Privilege <31-00>: 1014A085
Remote ID: TELNET_104310C1 Privilege <63-32>: 00000060

The remote node in this case had an address (TCP/IP) of 16.67.16.193. Is
there any way to glean that from the accounting record?

Thanks in advance for any help.

                          16.

The TCP/IP software (UCX or TGV or ...) will put that information in the space
for it. You will need to check with the appropriate group to determine
any other type information placed in accounting or security audit records.
