533.0. "Firmware for VAXstation 4000-90 (cougar KA49-A) required for LANCP" by NESBIT::IMACKENZIE () Fri Apr 25 1997 15:04
Hi folks,
I am looking for the latest firmware for a Cougar VAXstation 4000-90
The current firmware installed on the system is V1.0-006-V4.0
Since previous notes have indicated that V1.4 is available it looks
as like this system is slightly out of date !!!!
Problem Background
------------------
This machine boots VMS 6.2 from a 3 node AlphaServer 2100a (lynx) SCSI
cluster using LANCP. When I enable LANCP booting on all of the nodes
I see the MOP requests coming in and then shortly afterwards I get
a message indicating that another node is servcing the request and it
has become corrupt. If I turn of LANCP on two of the nodes and leave it
on only one boot node then the sattlite will boot.
I have a faint memory from may years ago that there was a bug in early
versions of the MOP V4 client that could corupt down line loaded images
when more than one server answered the load request. Could this be my
problem ?
cheers
Iain
