491.0. "SYSMAN SHUTDOWN NODE runs in subprocess of caller" by LNZALI::BACHNER (Mouse not found. Click OK to continue) Fri Apr 18 1997 07:26
The SHUTDOWN NODE option of SYSMAN really comes handy, except for a small
glitch: if used for the local node, it does not create a subprocess of the
SMISERVER, but a subprocess of the process that invoked SYSMAN.
Otherwise, it would be the preferred way to shutdown nodes accessed over TCP/IP
(be it telnet or DECterms over the TCP/IP transport). AS UCX is run down as part
of the (system) shutdown procedure, the invoking process gets killed and the
shutdown procedure cant't come to an end.
Are there plans to modify SYSMAN to increase its usability in this area ?
Thanks for listening,
Hans.
