467.0. "Strange behaviour with PowerTerm 525" by MLNCSC::DEPOLIG () Mon Apr 14 1997 11:53

Hi,

a customer of mine has a strange problem with PowerTerm525 and OpenVMS AXP.

He has two Alpha systems OpenVMS 6.2, when he connects via LAT to first
Alpha the words "Username" and "Password" are not correctly displayed:
the lowercase characters are substituted by semigraphic characters, after
login the lowercase characters are displayed correctly (a SET TERM/INQU is
performed).

If he connects to second Alpha all works fine, the PW525 setup is the same
for both connections.

VT320 works correctly with both Alpha systems.

Could someone tell me any suggestion ?

Thank in advance.

Gino De Poli

Please contact the PowerTerm525 customer support folks, and ask for
   assistance.

(OpenVMS V6.2 appears to operate as expected here, which would tend
to point to the PowerTerm525 as the source of the problem, or to the
PowerTerm525 support folks as the folks that need to look at this,
and and then to contact DIGITAL for assistance in debugging this...)

Perhaps one Alpha has something "dodgy" in its SYS$ANNOUNCE. Or at any
rate that may be a workaround.

P.S. Whatever "terminal" you yourself are using isn't working/configured
properly. It isn't PowerTerm525 by any chance? (-:
