Maybe they are available for VAX if you have the right version.
Maybe they are in a different library.
Maybe they are optionally installed.
NB: Since I haven't even attempted to look at the doco you reference I have
no idea what macros you are referring to.

I support your Customer's claim and I've seen a reference to this
defect _somewhere_ but I've no idea now where I read this.. and neither
does Comet/TIMA/STARS! :-( The macros listed could be obtained from
a recent Alpha STARLET.MLB and inserted into the VAX STARLET.. bear in mind
that the macros depend on definitions in (e.g.) SYS$LIBRARY:ARCH_DEFS.MAR
(Also see Section 1.6 in the _latest_ (V7.1) 'Porting VAX MACRO Code to
OpenVMS Alpha' for more details on the foregoing..)

:A customer *insists* that the macros listed in Appendix D of the Porting VAX
:MACRO Code to OpenVMS Alpha should be available STARLET.MLB on VAX as well.
Tell him to stuff the macros into the library himself (be prepared to
back these out during an upgrade), and then log a suggestion QAR that
we (OpenVMS) do the same. (If we haven't already done so for V7.1.)
The current ARCH_DEFS solution is a poor one with the sole benefits
of simplicity and expediency, and in my opinion it needs to be fixed.

| I had checked on an OpenVMS VAX 7.1 system and did not find these macros in
starlet.mlb. I'll log the suggestion qar as well.
thanks...
