393.0. "VAXLIBR05" by EVTAI1::LEREUIL () Thu Mar 27 1997 02:58

Hi , I would like to know if a similar PATCH to VAXLIBR05_070 for
5.5 to 7.0 will be developed for the Vms version between 5.0 to 5.5
and if there are similar problems about these routines on RSX11-M+

Thanks indeed for your quick help

Hi thanks for RSX but my question (not really found in 238.*)
    is about UNDER 5.5 OpenVms
I would like to know if the ENGINEERING OpenVms works for a Patch
or if I have need an IPMT for this customer.

    Thanks in advance

Your question is answered in the Q&A posted in 238.*. (I'd
prefer to keep these questions together, too...)

No. There is no patch for OpenVMS versions prior to V5.5. If
the customer thinks they need the patch -- and they should become
familiar with exactly what will happen and why, which is covered
in the Q&A and the other notes in 238.* -- they will need to contract
with DIGITAL, assuming the patch can be created. They can also
upgrade to a supported or "prior version support" OpenVMS version.

Many/most customers (prior to V5.5) will not see any problems and
I suspect a number of sites V5.5 and later will not see any problems,
unless they have an application that violated a documented OpenVMS
delta-time format restriction. The patches the instances where
   OpenVMS itself violated this restriction.

The Q&A should make it quite clear that is is a mis-used OpenVMS
programming interface, and this interface is not related to RSX.

As has been suggested at the website and in the Q&A, customers
curious about this can/should perform testing, to determine if
they are affected by 19-May-1997 or by 1-Jan-2000.
