391.0. "Polycenter File Optimizer with RAID support?" by HGOM11::HELENZHOU () Wed Mar 26 1997 21:51

    Hi,

Could someone help with "Polycenter file optimizer for OpenVMS AXP"
whether RAID disks can be defragmented by the optimizer? I can't find
the answer from the SPD. Thanks ahead!

    Reg.

  From the SPD:

>> POLYCENTER File Optimizer supports defragmenting disks connected to
>> OpenVMS VAX or Alpha machines from any supported VAX or Alpha machine.
>> It is fully supported when installed on any valid and licensed VMScluster*
>> configuration without restrictions.

So, if you've got a disk (any disk) connected to an OpenVMS system in
a supported manner, PFO can defrag it.

Provided of course that the disk has a valid Files-11 file system on
it. Beyond that PFO doesn't care much about the actual type of disk. I
suppose one should note that not all functions are available on
    read-only disks. (-:
