Hi all, An our customer has a DEC2000, this machine used to be loaded OVMS AXP v1.5. And OSDS (Optical Storage Desktop Software) v3.2 was being used. With OVMS AXPv1.5 and OSDS v3.2 loaded, a optical drive RWZ52 was working properly. Now, because of a new requirement, OVMS v1.5 has been upgraded to v6.2. After OS upgaradation, I did try to reinstall OSDS v3.2, but it made system crash. OSDS v3.2 seem to do not support OVMS v6.2 ( In release notes, it says this version of OSDS supports OVMS v1.5 to v6.1, it does not mention about v6.2). And, in Systems and Options Catalog November 1996, it says that RWZ52 supports OVMS VAX and OSF. It does not talk any thing about OVMS AXP. This makes me doubt. So, If any one can clarify: - What does the thing written in Catalog book mean ? Does it mean that RWZ52 not support OVMS AXP. - Which OSDS version supports OVMS AXP v6.2 ? Thanks in advance, Son.

There's an OSDS conference at ELWOOD::OPTICAL, and that's likely the best spot to search, and -- if you're unable to locate an answer to a previous similar question -- to post your question. (OSDS is a layered product, and is not directly part of OpenVMS.) The Web Integrated Respository (IR; http://webir.das.dec.com/) search engine retrieved the OSDS Software Product Description (SPD 47.45.xx), which clearly indicates the following OpenVMS versions are supported by OSDS V3.4: OpenVMS VAX V6.2, OpenVMS Alpha V6.2, V6.2-1H1, V6.2-1H2, and V6.2-1H3. | |||||

Yep, 3.4 is the latest OSDS to date.... and will work in this config. It's a free upgrade, so there's no reason to not use it. I'd use MSGAXP instead of ELWOOD... Elwood is sort of drifting off into oblivion. Note that O'VMS 7.x support in OSDS/OSMS is not yet released. Chris |
