Hello, My customer use DECzap but it can't kill user process who use GEMBASE application. I don't have any idea about DECzap, just know that it's a software for idle process monitor. I have asked this question to my technical support and he told me that the reason that DECzap can't kill GEMBASE application because it doesn't idle. When user login to GEMBASE and do nothing for quite long time, my supprt told me that it created sub-process so DECzap didn't kill it because it isn't real idle. So I have to look for another product for my customer to kill the GEMBASE process. Could you pls tell me about the products which do like idle process monitor and where I can copy to test ? Thanks a lot in advance Best regards, Orapin

Before asking, please try a DIRECTORY/TITLE=ZAP (see 313.* here), or try a search of HUMANE::SYS$PUBLIC:EASYNOTES.LIS for a ZAP-related notes conference (SHARE::ZAP). The 313.* note and the ZAP conference point to other idle-process killer (IPK) applciations. ZAP was retired a while back -- the maintainer is no longer at DIGITAL -- and I don't know if the source code is still available. | |||||

re .0 Also, have the customer contact the vendor of GEMBASE. If GEMBASE doesn't want to be killed, we ought not kill it unless we have adequate knowledge of how it works. |
