My customer has seven VAX systems which locates at two different sites. One site has five VAX systems which are formed CI cluster. The other site has two VAX system which also forms CI cluster. Customer also form NI cluster for seven VAX systems. There is a FDDI ring to connect two sites. Customer mention that he can access tape drive (TK70) at siteB, but he cannot access the tape drive (TA91) at siteB. I checked sysgen parameters in all systems. Would anyone have an idea on it ? Any advice should be appreciated. If I am to understand the mapping of host parameters to the diagram -- that the VAXPR6 parameters are from the node labeled as VAX6 in the diagram, etc -- then the customer will want to set the same non-zero tape-allocation class on the HSC and on the VAXPR6 host. (When through-serving devices via the OpenVMS MSCP and TMSCP servers, one must have the controller (HSx, DSSI ISE, etc) and the host set to the same non-zero allocation class.) I'd also recommend the customer read the VMScluster management documentation around setting up a VMScluster and on serving disk and tape devices. I suspect the customer will also want to look at CLUSTER_CONFIG and/or CLUSTER_CONFIG_LAN documentation, as these can be used to enable disk and tape services. Information on allocation classes is in chapter 6, and information on CLUSTER_CONFIG is in chapter 8. (V6.1 through V7.1 _VMScluster Systems for OpenVMS_ manual.) -- The SPEZKO::CLUSTER notes conference is a better spot for most VMScluster questions. And it is often useful if the OpenVMS version is mentioned. |
