Reset the process quotas per the System Management Documentation on
using BACKUP, check for and apply any available V7.1 patches to BACKUP,
and -- if the failure can still be duplicated -- please raise an IPMT.
(I've done a quick check and see no previous reports of this error...)

| Steve,
The customer has received the error BACKUP-F-WAITIDLEBCB once again
with all the uaf params set as outlined in the 1st note. I have not
been able to reproduce the error on my system. The error on his system
is very intermittent. It happened 1 week ago but has not reoccured. Can
you tell me what the error WAITIDLEBCB is looking for? Could it be a
system param is out of synch? Any other suggestions would be
appreciated.
When a do a help/message WAITIDLEBCB it returns
Facility: BACKUP, Backup Utility
Explanation: A software error occurred in the Backup utility.
User Action: Contact a Digital support representative.
This seems to indicate that there is a problem with the backup.exe.
However, I can't reproduce the error and I've still be unable to locate
any backup patches for V7.1.

Greetings,
I too have a customer who is getting the message
BACKUP-F-WAITIDLEBCB error on Alpha V7.1.
His backup command is:
BACKUP/LOG disk:[000000...]*.*;* tape:saveset
Some of his backup quotas were extremly high, others
were set per backup recommendations.
However, in checking the tape drive, we found
several DEVICE errors reported in the Errorlog file during
the time of the backup. The tape drive is DEC DLT 2000.
He is planning to have FS correct the tape drive
problem to determine if this will resolve the problem.
However, I would like to know what the error really means.
Could someone reply with an explanation of the message.
Barbara
