Some time ago I installed OpenVMS 7.1 on my AlphaStation 500/333. Runs great even though I don't care for CDE that much. This has the TGA2 in PCI slot 0 8. I also have Digital UNIX and NT 4.0 running without any problems. Due to our fine friends at CA, I had to install OVMS 6.2-1H3. I have not been able to get the DECwindows to start on 6.2-1H3. I have checked the usually suspects, WINDOWS_SYSTEM=1 and many other places. I find that when you do the following in DECW$DEVICE_CONFIG_GY.COM $ sysman io auto/sel=(GY*) $ if .NOT. f$getdvi("GY","EXISTS") then EXIT you will exit and the DECW$setup....reports "no Graphics device". I have search through the patches, installed higher versions of MOTIF and still cannot get this to start. Anyone know what I am missing. Regards, Sandy

287.1 | Install Motif/CDE Patches, & Open3D... | XDELTA::HOFFMAN | Steve, OpenVMS Engineering | Wed Mar 05 1997 15:47 | 9 |
(You should be asking this in the BULOVA::DECWINDOWS conference... See note 5695.*, etc., over there.) There are large DECwindows Motif patch kits that are needed for the V1.2-3 and the V1.2-4 releases, and you may (will?) need to install the TGA2 drivers from an Open3D kit -- between the two, you should be able to get the TGA2 device working on OpenVMS Alpha V6.2-1H3. |
