    Hi,
    
    After installing ALPMOUN01_071 on Alpha system or VAXMOUN01_071 on VAX
    system,
    both running OpenVMS Version 7.1, neither of ShadowSet, DRA, DKA or
    CD-ROM
    disks can be mounted.
    
    The mount command hung for few minutes and gives the following error
    message:
    
    MOUNT-I-OPRQST _$1$DRA0: Is not available for mounting
    
    Restoring the original OpenVMS V7.1 VMOUNT.EXE and MOUNTSHR.EXE solves
    the
    problem.

That's a typical message you get when the reference count is not 0 on the device 
you try to mount. Are you using Pathworks? Did you reboot the system?

   Standalone, or VMScluster?  If VMScluster, what other versions of
   OpenVMS and what other platforms are present in the VMScluster,
   and do the other systems have the V7.1 compatibility kit applied?
   Please provide the output from an SDA> SHOW DEVICE of the failing
   device(s), anything relevent found in the error log, and elevate
   this via IPMT.

    I can reproduce this problem on my cluster. Only ShadowSet device seems
    to be affected by this problem.
    
    
A VMScluster with a VAXstation 4000-96, an Alpha Server 2100 4/200 and
an DEC3000-600, all systems running OpenVMS V7.1 with the following patches:

For AXP system

ALPCPU1601_071
ALPCPUC02_071
ALPMOUN01_071
ALPSHAD01_071

For VAX system

VAXACRT01_071
VAXMOUN01_071
VAXSHAD01_071

this problem can be reproduced easly!!!!!!!!!

    No need to report this.
    
    I have already placed the MOUN01_071 kits on hold and requested that
    MOUN02_071 be created ASAP.  This bug was found and fixed, but the
    wrong images ended up on the kit.

    Oh, this error usually happens because the audit server is not running.
    As a result, the ORB can not be instantiated.  This can be either very
    early in startup, or if the audit server has been disabled.
