247.0. "ECO installation record in VMS? WHERE?" by SALEM::GWCOOP::GWCOOP (DSM @NIO, Salem N.H.) Tue Feb 25 1997 13:43

    Please

Does anyone know where to lookj it fing a record of ECO installs
in VMS 6.2? The ECO's are not listed in PRODUCT SHOW PRODUCE or
the vmsinstal history files. A Custome wants to SEE a record of
    	the ECO being installed? pointers?

No there is no way to see *exactly* which kits have been installed. The
closest we come to is doing a DIRECTORY SYS$HELP:*.RELEASE_NOTES and
looking thru these files. Usually if there are Release Notes for a patch
kit in SYS$HELP then the kit has been installed. If you have questions on
a particular kit you can look at the ECO_SUMMARY article for the kit in
STARS and find the information needed to see if the files on disk are the
same or different than the ones in the kit.

A little more information. There is nothing within VMS that will do this.
The GOLD team in the US CSC has a PROPATCH utility that collects
information from a customer system and then that information is checked
against a CSC database. This is done free of charge for GOLD customers and
as a revenue item for all others.

If this is an ALPHA system, SYS$UPDATE:VMSINSTAL.HISTORY
contains updates of whenever vmsinstal was used.
