181.0. "Mysterious SYSMSG.EXE" by CSC32::L_SOBCZYNSKI () Wed Feb 12 1997 08:12
*** Where did this version on SYSMSG.EXE come from ***
I have a customer running OpenVMS Alpha 6.1, he has reported that they
have the following copy of SYSMSG.EXE on their system.
*Image Identification Information
image name: "SYSMSG"
image file identification: "T.21-145" !(?) This may not be 100% accurate but
is close?
image file build identification: "X5SC-SSB-1L09"
link date/time: 28-DEC-94
When Alpha 6.1 was released it came with SYSMSG.EXE with a image file build
identification: "X5SC-SSB-0000". The only two variations to the image file
build identification code that can be found are with COBOLRTL024 which would
make it "X5SC-SSB-1L0B", with a link date of 16-AUG-95; then with DEC$COBRTL
which would make it "X5RG-SSB-0000" with a possible link date of 5-Aug-96.
ALPDISM01_070 contains a SYSMSG.EXE with a image file build identification of
"X5SC-SSB-B200". This is believed to be the latest build of the SYSMSG.EXE,
apparently ALPDISM02_070 will contian the same copy of SYSMSG.EXE?
Thank you in advance for any assistance, or direction rendered.
Regards
Leonard

If this is a serious question, raise an IPMT and have the folks that
create the patch kits look through the versions of this file that
have been shipped out.
